Unity

Hi all,

I'm working on a track called 'Unity'. I like the vibe of it but I have a few doubts about one or two things, so anyone's honest opinion will again be appreciated smile

It's here:
http://www.soundclick.com...amusic.htm (the 1st track in the list)

I like the baseline and the keys. Nice, laid back vibe. The guitar that comes in is a nice change.

it sounds very laid back...it could use some chorus or more keyboard when he stops rappin. Mo guitar. If this is the sound u r looking for i guess u r doing it right.

You have a horn section? I think that would be a nice touch. That bassline is one the of the greatest that Parliament never recorded. You're grooves are so laidback and the mix is so crisp that I'm like.... super-jealous mr.green Great groove... also reminiscent of 2Gether from the NPG album.

You definatly got that 70's soul sound down. The groove is kill'n.
I can here so much more in this track though. Guitars funk'n or solo'n at the break points.
Maybe some Horns doing a call and response with the Unity in the chorus.

I really would love to hear this live. This is something, where each bandmember could just
take turns streching this out. You left it open to alot of directions which is a good thing.

I love the positive message the lyrics are great.

This reminds me of lenny kravitz "5" album (the instrumental) the mood of the song reminds me of straight cold player i think, but lenny influence is not him, is always some 70 acts. cool bass!

That's one of the greatest compliments I ever received! Thanks biggrin
I was going for something like a 'Chocolate City' kind of vibe.

Yeah, I hear ya. Maybe I could fill it in more, withing clouding the essence of it.
We don't have horns though, but maybe some 'minneapolis style horns' (=synth) will do wink

We actually do perform it live for quite some time already, and with longer gigs it sometimes goes on and on in a disorganized P-Funk jamming kinda way. lol

Thanks for all comments!
