Invasion from Planet K - Went #1 !!

Finally got a rough mix going of a new tune. Invasion From Planet K. This track features my 72 Carlbro TR60 exclusively. Has a lot of Plexi flavor but it is creamier. I absolutely love the thing!! The track is intentionally very sparse, I got so hooked into the riffs that I didn't want to clutter them up with a bunch of crap. The track is very Trower flavored, esp with the neck pickup going all over the place. ( gearhead alert, yeah I'm a nerd!!) It is a Tokai Tele and a Fender Delta Tone in the neck. The leads are played with my Trusty A2 59 62 RI Strat combo. Got some Line 6 mod box going as well. I boosted the leads a bit with the Duncan PU Booster, thing sounds great!! Enjoy!! Getting to the end of this album, maybe by mid summer. This tune is also the name of the album.

headbang Funk & Roll...
This reminds me of I'm Yours by Prince. The solos kick ass, man.
Really dig the vamp @ 2:14, would love to hear that extended toward the end of the song to close it out.
DAMN, I wish I could do stuff like this sad

A very sincere thanks. I have dug all your stuff a great deal. It is interesting, on all my other tunes I have really filled all the spaces so to speak. At first it was my plan with this one as well, but after really listening to it I just fell in love with the space. I just really got captured by the riff and decided to let it breathe way more than my usual method of approaching this kind of music. Robyn Trower was brilliant at not playing when you think he should, and this amp being so damn British sounding it just put me in that place.

Thanks again!

Kick Ass. This is inspiring and yeah the vamp at 2:34 is a killer funk move. Love the sirens and feedback combo, that's some creative stuff.

You can't mention Trower without Hendrix and this groove is all Strat sound. Are you playing everything?

Hey thanks for the words, this tune was real fun to track. The Trower/Band of Gypsy's thing is front and center with my influeneces as far as guitar goes. I am doing all but the drums, Rikki Davenport is tracking them for me and IMO adds a ton to the character of this project. In some ways his playing is the most important part of this cause it sets everything else up so nice.

Again, I appreciate you taking the time to check this stuff out.

Hey thanks for checking it out.

I gotta say the keys doing guitar just don't work man they just never sound right. If you ever need some tracks I would be happy to help you out. What would Funkadelic have been w/o the Jimi freak? RIP Eddie... sad

Thanks again!!

Kevlar,

Cool tune.

Listening to the intro guitar tone I kept saying to myself what does that remind me of.
Then it hit me, the beginning of Freedom off of Cry of Love. Sweet.

I'm a BIG Jimi fan so anything Hendrixian i'm down with it.

Cry of Love is sitting in the car right now. I love that track ( Freedom), you mix that with Trower's Day of the Eagle and you got it nailed. Thanks for checking it out.
