Has this ever happened to you? So I pick-up this new mixing board from a friend and it's awesome.
I've been saving a little money so I could get back to recording and have something that sounds decent. Then I'm thinking, it would be great to mic the drumset so I can hear myself play but I'll need some monitors. Then to be able to run my turn table through the monitors would be cool too. I go the the music grocery store (The Guitar Center) and I figure I'll also need an amp to power the speakers and everything else. Then my snare is weak so I get another and a ton of cords and long story longer, I drop $1100 on misc equipment. This weekend I get home and I'm having noise issues and the turntable sounds really raw and everything is all over my house. So I go back to the guitar center and pick-up an EQ, more cords and a case to hold the board, eq and amp, this was Saturday. Another $500. Saturday night I'm setting things up and realize I'm missing more cords (that I thought I had) and I can't get the EQ wired. So because I'm now obessed with getting this complete, I'm back to the guitar center on Sunday to get the final cords. When I walk in I see this familiar box on the floor in the corner, it has my interest but now I'm spending money I don't have for these cords and I just want to get out of this store but I ask what the box is. It turns out to be a Fender Rhoads keyboard. I've been looking for one online and keeping my eyes out because it fits the funk like a glove and I don't want digital interpetations. The Rhoads is really clean and plays like a dream with weighted keys and it has 88 keys (which is a full-sized piano) and the salesman is like "it's been here for 10 minutes and its 300 dollars. It seemed to good to be true as I've not seen them under $800 but usually $1100. So I bought it. Couldn't pass it up and now I won't eat for the next month but whatever. Back to the question, have you ever started with something free or cheap and it snowballs into two grand?

Nice one Slave That does it, you've inspired me to actually fuzz this new amp I've been meaning to get for like the last 5 months The banks got enough dough, those bastids can pay for it One nutty thing I've done - went to a guitar shop to buy my first acoustic guitar, and got myself a Stratocoustic I took it back the next day and swapped it for a Washburn. ..... BULLSEYE!

Dude, that's how they make money. Happens all the time. But, no, never with 2 Grand. HOW exactly, do you have 2 grand to toss around? And when you give up on the piano, you've already got my address!! The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

I've been putting money into an account for music stuff. There was only $1500 in it (after 6 months) and now I'm spending the gas bill/cable bill money. Remember, no wife and kids. Give up on the piano? Are you funkin crazy? I'm just gettin started my man and I've got a vision that I will see to completion. The inspiration around here has really put a fire in my soul and funk is comin! While I've only messed around with pianos and know only the basics, I'll take lessons, practice and do whatever it takes to get the songs I'm hearing in my head onto the computer. My friends are like, "I'll give you $500 for it right now, just to resell it"

Otan answer my thread of cakewalk versus recorder pleaaase.
I am a master at recording with really shit equipment, and i am lazy to record something that has average quality, i know i always post the same old threads about this but this is the last one i swear. i hate the way my records sounds besides the collar of skin stuff (that was recorded on a studio). I know what it takes to have good gear, but my money only lets me choose between an average shure mic and ok soundcard, or a 8-track digital from fostex. read my threaad, this is the last one i swear.,

I say: Good for you!
you are following your passion and your not putting anyone in jepordy (wife, kids) Can't wait to hear the results! As for your question... Yes. (all the time before wife and children) What good are all these ideas if you don't at least try and go for them, right?
