when I first came to New York City i had only 3 dollars in my pocket. I didn't have anywhere to stay because i didn't know any one, it was in january and it was freezing... since i didn't have anyplace to stay a cop told me that i should go back home because the streets where no place for a kid like me to be. He said i didn't have what it takes to surive here in the city... anyhow i stayed in a local shelter "the kenton hotel" on the bowery. it was there i met this guy who said he was going to meet a friend in washington square park and wanted to know if i wanted to walk with him over there.... i was feeling adventurous and went with him. we waiting in the circle for about 20 minutes talking about how silly the whole program at the kenton was... and thats when he appeared... This guy who had these shoes that had to have soles that were at least 7 inches high, he was tall with them on but average size without them.. He was wearing all white and these wings that expanded at lease 3 feet on both side of him.. I thought that he was beautiful. the 2 guys kissed and then the guy look over at me and asked who i was and the other guy introduced us... the guy with the wings... His name was Angel. Angel said that i had beautiful eyes and then asked me if i wanted to hang out with them. I was excited because this was the first time a "new yorker" had invited me into his world. he took us to his apartment over in chelsea. we hung out there for may be an hour while Angel cut up a big size portion of cocaine in to little baggies... He said that he was going to make a killing that night at this club called The LimeLight. He asked if i wanted to go with him and the other guy, but at the time i was afraid of breaking the house rules at the kenton which was be in by 10 or don't come in at all. after i told him that i couldn't come he said well at least have dinner with us, it was on him. He then took us over to this old dinner on 8th ave... it was real cool... aluminum walls on the outside... just like in the movies... there he told me i could have anything that i wanted... ANYTHING... I order a country fried stake dinner. the food was great and it was a nice departure from the shelter food that i had been eating since arriving to the city. the employees there all seem to know Angel because they were all friendly with him. hugging and kissing him as they greeted him. the 3 of us sat there and had dinner, laugh, and had a great conversation. i remember thinking... man this dude is so cool... he walks around with wings and his name is Angel. He was my angel at the time... He was the Very First person to invite me into his home and into his world when i first came here. He was so kind and in my eyes he was very beautiful. as the night began to get late we went back to the apartment and picked up a few things. Angel and the other guy to The LimeLight and i went back to the shelter to tell everyone in my dorm about the guy i just met. I only seen Angel once more on the street but i was to far away to speak to him... he was hailing a cab, but his wings i could see from blocks away. i remember thinking There goes the nicest guy in all of new york city. several months later I read in the paper that Angel was killed.. his body was cut into pieces and put into a box and then thrown into the river. I remember thinking... Damn, the devil got to the Angel that God had sent me and killed him in such a brutal manner. I was very sad over this for awhile..

the reason i bring this up is because i just got the dvd "Party Monster"
its the movie that deals with the people and the lifestyle that Angel was associate with at the time..funny thing... last summer i kept running into Macully Kulkin on the street in the east village and never said more that "Hey Man" to him.
Macully Kulkin and Seth Green are masters of thier crafts in this film. i wish i had seen it before hand then i would have had the chance to chat with macully about my Angel experience.
anyhow... i just think its funny how u never know who it is your speaking with and what kind of impact they will have on anothers. if u see the movie there was so much more to Angel then what was protrayed. they only focused in on one aspect of his charter, which i can understand for the sake of the point of view being told in the movie. anyhow just a little story.

Tripped out story and now I've got to get that movie to get the full effect.
