All you have to do it go looking for it. All I searched for was "cheap recording software". I'm not being a smartass here - just saying - a lot of times, the discussions on here run in cycles. In another 2 months, this very same question will come up again. It never hurts to do a little searching. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

If you want to do vocal recording, you're gonna take up lots of hard drive space. No way around that. You can record lots of midi without taking up a lot of space though, so you can save lots of ideas.
What do you mean by regular pc? How many MHz (or Ghz) and how much hard drive space?

I found this article to be very helpful in getting the most out of my system. http://www.prosoundweb.co...m/pc.shtml
The section on "Optimizing your system" is especially helpful. http://www.prosoundweb.co...pc_7.shtml

Better yet, do a search for "recording software" and you get more results: http://www.prince.org/sea...&subtgt=15 It's true, lots of knowledge here.

Hey - another option used by one of the more prolific orgers is to do the music on the software, and then record your music and vocals into a separate recording device. His choice is a VCR, which was one of the first affordable digital recording devices out there. It may SOUND strange to record your music onto VCR tape, but it is a great way to accomplish the task... specially if you're just looking to do demos.
