UPDATE - 4/22 'Synthia Rhodes' - R&B dance track...
'Outtro' These will probably be the last two for a while. I've made a vow not to work on anything else until I get Paisleypark4's song finished. Also trimmed some fat from my soundclick page. [This message was edited Thu Apr 22 16:22:10 2004 by psykosoul]

OH SHIT! This is TIGHT! Soon as i heard the cracklin' ol' 33 1/3 RPM, i knew it was on! The bass is thumpin. Sounds like a perfect jam that some1 would rap/ sing on. Mainly a male artist. Where'd u get that smack snare from? Love the hi-hats in the background.
man wish i could come down 2 ur house and jam on stuff like this with u, although I cant play a guitar .. or even get 2 a screamin guitar solo like that like u!. As always slammin. When u gonna per4m at First Avenue in Minneapolis mayn!? ps . hows the scratch vox comin my brutha? Peace, ur friend Izaiah Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Thanks Izaiah, you know I "borrowed" that idea from you right? The smack snare is a handclap keyboard drum kit. I wanted a Zapp/P-Funk type clap/snare but I still don't know what effect they used to get that full loud sound...the end result didn't quite turn out how I wanted it. I truly wish I could play a lead guitar solo hopefully I through enough effects on it to hide the fact that I don't have a clue what I'm doing. As always, I appreciate you taking the time to listen. And you have to give me your email address, I'll send you the MP3 of the scratch vocals. They sound really horrible to me because I have such a cheap little microphone and I sound like shit. That's very nice! We all need 2 return 2 the classics I wanted a Zapp/P-Funk type clap/snare but I still don't know what effect they used to get that full loud sound...the end result didn't quite turn out how I wanted it.
that's where u sample.. edit.. cut that snare right out of the cuts! I truly wish I could play a lead guitar solo hopefully I through enough effects on it to hide the fact that I don't have a clue what I'm doing.
but that is u playing that guitar right? if not u r one HELL of a programmer!!!!! no, that's real no matter what u say! And you have to give me your email address, I'll send you the MP3 of the scratch vocals. They sound really horrible to me because I have such a cheap little microphone and I sound like shit.

Man this a cool throw back, I Hayes or Curtis would be proud!
I love the organ parts the add alot of soul to it. You also did a good job capturing a live feel on this track. Wiht all the old school stuff coming back you should get this out thr!

Hey great track!
Some points - i thought the hi hat was too loud (clinical), the rhythm guitar be compressed a bit more and the guitar solo could have a bit more (stereo) reverb on it. The solo was ok for about 10 seconds, then got a bit lost. I would edit it and repeat it. But what do i know?

I'm getting back into the listening vibe these days, (PP4 - YOU'RE NEXT!)
This thing is great. Your recordings are better and better - sound quality I mean. The compositions are always tighter than sardines in a can. I would echo what some other folks have said, but maybe phrase it differently - you've got the bass doing some stereo chorus, the electro-keys in a nice chorus thing, the drums are in a stereo environment - reverb, what have you, and then your rhythm guitar, lead guitar and organ are all standing in the middle of the mix, standing on each other's toes. I would like to hear the rhythm guitar and organ panned slightly opposite each other, so there's more of a feel that you're hearing it all in front of you. That way, the lead guitar will sit in the middle of the mix quite nicely. The days of mixing for mono are close to dead. There's maybe 1% of the listeners out there hearing stuff in mono nowadays, so the original demo rule, "mix in mono!" is pretty much null now. Great jam! GREAT. Now I've flipped it completely. I think the new beat gives it a whole new identity. It's like Detroit House music and that's not really my style but I like what I'm hearing. You tell me if it works.
