Number three and number 4 are the stand out tracks for me. Lost love? Unrequinted love? Fiction? Do tell.

Thanks. They're both based on real events in my life... I agree, they are the standout tracks. I think track 4 is probably the best on there.

i enjoyed them,
the light rock funk on perfect works well and the demo sound - small room reverb gives it a quirky feel. the vocals could be louder though in places. the tracks sound a bit like beck but the vocals sound like ash, laidback spoken type

In future recordings I think my vocals will be improved and clearer/louder.

It's been a chaotic week. Sorry.
I'm on it right now. Really liking it - I'm streaming the whole thing all together, so, I probably wont know which song is which. I really like the horn hits. It reminds me of early/mid INXS right now. Your voice sounds cool - what kind of mic are you using - it's very very lo-fi, but works for the music. Never would have thought of that comparison, but I do like some INXS. Yeah as for horns, I'll be playing more sax and getting a trumpet player in for my next batch of songs and now that I have a band together, there'll be keys, live drums, some funky bass and basically a better overall sound. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I just listened to 'Perfect'.
I like the guitar playing at around 1m:45s - its very accomplished and doesn't sound forced. I like the sort of grunge/funk hybrid that you're working. The melody of the verses sounds a bit like 'Funny Way Of Saying I Love U'. I keep hearing the "ooh we, ooh we, ooh we, ooh we, ooh" refrain in my head. Its very over-loud. I can't make out what you're singing. What are the lyrics? Don't shoot me!

I can't make out what you're singing. What are the lyrics? Don't shoot me! Lyrics to "Perfect": Perfect (John P Williamson) VERSE 1: Oh, you're so wrong You're absolutely perfect for me So, what is wrong? You say you don't deserve this, or me... CHORUS: Oh, you make me happy And I wish I could make you happy too... Yeah, yeah... VERSE 2: Go...I won't be long I'll be thinking of you, would you miss me? No, I guess not I heard a brilliant movie I couldn't see... CHORUS GUITAR SOLO CODA: Should I change my hairstyle or shave? 'Cause you know I did try to behave... I was such a good boy And you were such a good girl And I think we deserve each other No, not another 'Cause as you're thinkin' of me... I am thinkin' of you... I am thinkin' of you...yeah... I am thinkin' of you....oh! You're absolutely perfect. (©John P (2004))
