Dusted off and old song and remade it... lyrical ideas anyone??

I wrote this song called "You" a few years ago and never quite found the groove for the vocal tracks... I'm waiting for the perfect inspiration.

In other words... it's been gathering dust.

It's sexy and mellow... ummm... one MIGHT say it's seductive. Out of respect for the ladies in here, I won't elaborate. eek

Who's the resident "lyrical genius" up in this joint? hehe.

Give it a listen if you will, and give a brotha some feedback, k?

Cool song Julian!, I write song lyrics myself and if I think of any lyrics 4 u then I'll send u a org note.

On the song itself, I dig it, its cool, although u could slow it down even more 2 make it a ballad and perhaps remove the spoken part of the song 2. Add some synths 2 it and give it a 'Scandalous' vibe perhaps.

Plus, ur '2 Funky 2 B A Star' is very cool, funky tune, like the rap in it 2!

I also listened 2 'Caught Me By Suprise' and thought that was very good, u've got a very good singing voice 2!.

Thanks Timefan...

In regards to "You"... I'd be happy hearing some of your lyrical ideas for it... it's been a song without a purpose for too long. I haven't been able to nail down the right vibe for it. smile

*putting on my psychologist glasses and getting my notepad ready*

So... how does it make you FEEL when you hear it? Sad? Angry? Do you hate your parents?

As for "2 Funky 2 B A Star"... I have to crack up at myself for even TRYING to flow. Who else in the WORLD would use the word "dooky" in a song?! LMAO!!

Serious, thanks for the props.

Beautiful tune.
I dunno how disrespectful it would be if you would elaborate wink but maybe it's just what you should do in your lyrics. Other than that I'm not much of a lyrical genius I'm afraid.
One point of critique though, I think you should either replace the bass track with a real bass guitar or a more synthy bass, not a bass from a synth trying to sound like the real thing. The bass just sounds a bit plastic/fake IMHO. The rest of the song just deserves better.
I also listened to some more tunes from your page, and I just wanted to tell you I'm *really* diggin your work, so there smile

I like it, Julian. It might be ok without lyrics and just some middle-eastern vocalizing. That's the vibe I was getting from it.

In regards 2 Lyrical ideas, I'll have 2 listen 2 it a few times b4 I get any ideas. It would b very cool with lyrics, perhaps u could remove the spoken part of the song, and perhaps slow it down 2 make it a ballad as I have said, cuz the vibe I'm gettin' is of a ballad, kinda sad vibe 2. Once I have thought of some lyrics I'll org note u,

Hell, if a critique bothered me, I wouldn't open myself up to ask for suggestions, bruh. It's all good biggrin

And yeah... I kind of felt that way about the bass, too... except when I dropped a real bass on the track, I just couldn't get it to "feel" right. I mixed and eq'd and tried different effects to get it right where I wanted it, until three days later I was like, "Dammit." hehe.

But I wondered if it was just me, thinkin the bass sounded canned. Now I know. As with any piece of music, I'm gonna have to work at it until it's "just right".

Thanks for the propers, erik... I really DO appreciate it!

hey Julian I love it. "You" is so melodic and beautiful. I can see dancing girls of gold and magic carpets. You must be using a Triton. It sounds just like my keyboard. Make this one available for download.

Believe it or not, I blew the dust off of my Ensoniq VFX for that one. OOOOOLD keys, but some of the sounds are just PLUSH.

I made the mp3 available for download, too.

And forgive me... but who is Sneha Mistri?

I liked the idea, but eye dont understand how could u have had that in your head omg the music is complex. I couldnt play a keyboard like that if eye tried. Vina would have some nice lyrics 2 go 4 that. Sounds like a walk thru the olden days type of sound.

lol I didn't have it ALL in my head, Paisley... only the melody and the direction I wanted the music to go was halfway tracked out in an old MIDI file.

Though I'd LOVE to be able to say I'm just like Mozart and can hear all that shit in my head playing simultaneously -- LMMFAO at THAT one -- I keep about three tracks at a time in my little noggin. Once I can get what I hear in my head committed to tracks, then I go back and build three more in my head by listening time and time and time again. Build. repeat. build repeat. Scrap it. build. repeat.

Why THREE tracks? Simple. I want certain parts to weave their way around each other instead of acting independently FROM each other. Not rocket science, but it works for me. Prolly doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense, does it?

Yeah... in the keyboards department, I'm rocking the VFX, the EPS 16+, and the Yamaha Motif. The 16+ is pretty outmoded and outdated, but most of my earlier stuff was done on that, and I like to go back and listen to old ideas for new inspiration. Plus, I could program that sumbitch like nobody's business! biggrin

Julian...."You" is such a beautiful and exceptional work. I fell in love with your sound when I listened to "Caught Me By Surprise", but this is as good if not better. Tell me again why you don't perform anymore wink ???? biggrin Excellent song!!!
