I wouldn't care if someone came around who was exactly like prince, then we would just have more great music, thats all.

It just gets frustrating sometimes. You talk yourself out of chasing "The Deal" and learn to do what you LOVE to do. Then someone finally talks you into submitting your demos to these fuckin A&R people, and then you get the same shit time after time...

Them: "You sound like Prince. Could you maybe... NOT sound so much like him?"

Me: (thoughtfully) "Maybe. Ummm... could you go fuck yourself?"

Then you're back to Square One.

Monday, I swung by my church, to play a few instrumental pieces for a minister who heads the songwriting ministry there. She was listening to a hard rock cut I did (think Vai):

"Did you listen to Prince when you were younger? Your stuff sounds just like his! Even your licks. I like it!"
