Some tunes from a new member

Hi fellow Prince enthousiasts smile

I'm new here so I thought maybe the best way to introduce myself is to post a link to some of my music: http://movegaga.nl/mp3.html
It's a kind of funk-rock-hiphop crossover.
Except for the live track (where I play synth&rhodes), it's all home recordings I did with the rapper from my band. The rapper did the raps (honest! smile and the scratching, I did the bass, synth, rhodes, drum programming and some guitar work.
The vocal recordings sound a bit dull, because they're done with the little plastic microphone I got with my sound card, but I got myself a half-decent mic now wink
What do you think?

Welcome.

Love the beats and overall vibe (even the live song).

Just funky and cool from the 3 songs I listened to.

I'll edit this when I have a chance to listen to some more.

thanks! smile

Just uploaded a new song I'm working on: http://movegaga.nl/mp3/downwithus.mp3
(please forget the lame guitar solo at the end (which is actually a pitched bass), needs to be replaced wink )

"The time is now" is to hella funky! Unique but brings back memories of Eric B and Rakim.

The live feel sets it apart though. There is a market for this. Take it live, it'd be hot!

Really like the live instrument vibe, adds tons of color. Very fun checking the stuff out.

I just listened to "The Time is Now". All I've got to say is... GAWD...DAYAMMMM!!!! biggrin

Eric, let me offer this.... this shit is waaaaayyyyy too funky to have rap sittin there behind it. I'm not a rap hater at all, but THIS???!!!! You need some tight ass, FUNKY vocals puchin the hell out of it!

Who else feels me on this?

I heard the vocals in my mind, bro... it needs to be called... "U Fuckin up my Mellow... Get Out."

Thanks for all your comments guys biggrin

It's funny people mention 'The time is now', the tracks were layed down in just a couple of hours with the rapper doing some freestyling. It's just a jam, really, although I also like the the groove of it.

Julien, I see your point about the rapping. The rapper is very old-school and I would like to have more singing in my music, but the thing is, I'm a really awful singer confused. And good, inspiring vocalists are difficult to find, plus he is a great live performer. People really love him when we play live.

I guess I'll have to do some listening to the work of the people hanging out here. I heard some tracks from NFO and some are pretty darn good and inspiring!
