2 New Ones... Outtake # 2: Working title for this one is "Champagne" I can't decide whether this needs a live drum sound or a programmed sound. But I would really like this to sound like a champagne soul song.
Funk Jam #5: The fifth in a series of funk jams dedicated to the sound of the 80s. This was more or less inspired by Jam & Lewis particularly Cheryl Lynn's Encore. Untitled (Sade-sim): Possibly another collabo for me and paisleypark4. See this thread for explanation: http://www.prince.org/msg/15/85264 [This message was edited Sun Mar 21 12:45:20 2004 by psykosoul]

outtake #2 has got definetely that champagne soul feel, i lke the open chords and the gentle atmo...acoustic drums would definetely suit the track...otherwise if u want programmed beats it could turn in2 an r&b song which would make it more interesting
funk jam #5...i like that, is funky as the title suggests, the bass is moving & i like the sound treated that way...but how come don't u add vocals? the horn section is pretty effective, is it real, synthetic or sampled? feB http://www.soundclick.com...smusic.htm

Most of my music is instrumental. When i make music I always get halfway through writing lyrics and stop because I think they sound either too childish or too "deep". I can never seem to find the happy medium. I'm also scurred to sing because I can tell the effects that smoking has had on my voice today as opposed to 10 years ago. I appreciate the input.

I never heard u do anything like Outtake #1. Very modest and quiet. U have a very good voice even if it is diguised in the vocoder, u can still hear it. Oh, and I listened 2 "Funk Jam #5" a while ago. U got the snares and some of the background noise right as comparin it 2 80's Jimmy & Terry. But it is still your own style and it is very cool. I like the chorus line. Damn man it is dying for some girl to be jammin on the song! . I didnt get where u said it sounds like "Encore" this and that are 2 totally different tunes! Coo beans my brutha. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Coo beans my brutha. I was listening to Encore, and your version of You Make Me Feel Mighty Real. And without trying to rip both of those songs off, that's what wound up getting recorded. Now that I've had time to sleep I'm taking those vocals off of Outtake # 2. They sound horrible to me now.

Well, when you guys get productive, the inspirational well turns on... I've been going back and trying to listen to everybody's music. Good deal. Funk Jam #5 is coool. I like the baseline and the beat. For some reason I'm getting images of Breakin' in my head. Remember that movie? Maybe because someone mentioned that movie a few nights ago, but this is a really good dance tune. Defintely an 80's groove. I like the guitar a lot too.

Awe shucks, man! Well, I just put some vocals down for someone else, and I'm working on a song with another orger's beats. I wish I didn't have a day job because I would LOVE to just collaborate with everyone! Too much on my plate to promise anything right now.

Awww, that kinda response reminds me of those creative rejections I used to get back in the day. "I like you but more in a brother kinda way" "I'm cutting potatoes, I can't talk to you right now can I call you back?" Just promise me you'll do one for me before I die mmmkay?
