feB said: 1- try to add external efx to your keyboard/synth that u would use 4 other purposes (a guitar pedal?) and make it even more minimalist 2 achieve your brand nu sound (by the way your rhytmic & basslines r quite complex) 2- i guess u work a lot with midi...so try 2 get some virtual synth (prophet 5,absynth just 2 name a few) and use'em with your pc midi platform (cakewalk) the range of sounds would b much much better. or even beter get reason (name of a software),is a complete platform of work in your pc and u can do a lot with midi too,it gets a while to understand how 2 work with but u could discover unexpected possibilities with a strike Thank you feB for your time and attention. Yes, I think it's time I venture into the world of virtual synths. Lots of people have mentioned those to me, as well as Reason... Anybody want to hook me up? By the way, Prophet 5 sounds like a great one. Reminds me of my favorite Synth player, Nick Rhodes. And thanks again feB, for the compliments on my voice and rhythms and basslines. Much love.

As far as visuals go, it might be the , haha, just kidding. Well actually, the when I first got the lyrics and melody to this I was stoned at the guitar player's house. He and his friends were playing some computer or video game and I was watching. But I was looking at the screen like you look at those 3-D pictures that don't look like anything until you stare for about a minute? Anyway that's how I got the first line, it just came to me with the melody. So I called my house and left myself a message singing "I'm looking more at the colors than what's actually happening. I see your eyes all a flutter and I forget my dreams." My friend wondered where I was and he found me in his room singing on the phone. And he was like "Awwww YEAH!", and he turned all his equipment on in his studio in the next room. So then I did the beat and a few other sounds. He saved it, but I ended up re-creating what I had done at his house when I got home to my computer. And I've been working on it ever since. So here are the full lyrics. Looking more at the colors than what's actually happening I see your eyes all a flutter and I forget my dreams You say the dogs are finally mad and coming through You fantasize of lullabies and never see the truth Sparks of light all a flutter in the corners of my eyes I’m looking more at the water than your modus operandi You say the dogs are finally mad and coming through You fantasize of lullabies and never see the truth I can do most anything relive my dreams I can lie and turn around most anything doesn't matter what you say I'm yours today You turn around and turn away My pretty daze AHA! I thought I saw where you were going with this and you've definitely got something great here! Jshua

Some of this you may have already heard....Im too tired to read all of the other post....lol
As always your voice is as sexy as hell!!! Keep it up front! I really like the uniqueness of the rythm section and the complex bass line! Very cool! They do sound a lil casio like tho...If you can't get a better sequencer or drum machine then try adding some compression to the drums and bass. Or adding more mid and bass to them with a eq. I may be wrong but it sounded like you ran the entire song through the same fx? There are no rules with this stuff, so dont take this as one but, usually for funk stuff the bass and drums will hit harded with just comp and eq and just a sprinkle of rvb. For the vocals eq them up around 4-6db at 80khx raise it up to around 6-9db if needed. Its all how you hear and feel it. Check out this article on mixing. Not rules just guidlines. http://www.mbstia.com/mbs...cles12.htm Hope I dont sound like a know it all....lol I have alot to learn myself. You have incredible potential I just wanted to offer what I think can take your recordings to the next level. Peace! http://www.broadjam.com/cozmic

You have incredible potential I just wanted to offer what I think can take your recordings to the next level. Peace! http://www.broadjam.com/cozmic Thanks for all that, it's MUCH appreciated, except for the casio comment, man, that is LOW! For the record, I have NEVER owned a casio. Damn, I can't tell you how much they disgust me. Ok, now that my breathing has return to normal and my convulsions have subsided, I'll respond to your other comments. I'm just learning about effects and stuff, so it's all new to me. Yeah, the keyboard I'm using, a KORG, (teehee) is playing all the sounds via midi and I've got just some hall reverb on it. I have yet to record each midi track individually as an audio track to tweak them. Man, this shit is hard work, as you know. Thanks for the compliments on my voice. Now wipe your chin, lol. You're the second person to say this baseline is complex. I just came up with it. I'm glad it's groovy like that. So anywho, yes, the next step is to get into the ins and outs of eqing and adding effects to each track. I will put your suggestions to use. Thanks so much. However, I DO wish I had a producer to worry about this stuff for me. I love the magic of composing, but this technical/ mixing/ effects stuff is just tedious. Thanks again for all your suggestions, you have a good ear and I really respect your work.
