well. going over to heavy rawk for awhile. The funk band plan has faltered - nobody wants to play with you unless you already have a gig, and nobody will give you a gig unless you've got a band. It's crazy logic.
So I'm going back to straight up grunt rock for awhile. It'll still have some groove to it, but it will be far far far from the disco funk I'd been looking to put out. Right now I'm in the process of carrying over some of my songs from the funk to the rock. For starters, it's She's Too Rich For Me. Let me know what ya think. I'm diggin it, but I can't wait to hear a whole band play it, finally, after 3 years of sitting on my computer. http://www.funkmusician.c...2Heavy.mp3 Next will be Star 69. Moderator | I dunno.
I dig the groove but the lyrics don't seem to fit to me. maybe it's because I grew so fond of the orginal. Perhaps write all new lyrics for this new song? It all seems to come together more at the end though. All Rights Reserved. |

That sucks about the funk band but whatever, I'm a firm believer in the fact that everything happens for a reason.
Reason One. I'm just being honest when I say YOU ROCK Love this and make sure you Org note me whenever you do anything whatsoever.

Dang, something's out of tune on the song - besides my voice, I mean. I think it's the guitar on the left... maybe the bass. Not sure.
I agree with you YM - this just sounds like a pale metal version of a super funky song. I'm hoping the band will do something to it. I'm convinced that I can move a lot of these songs over to a heavy hendrix type groove without losing their impact and without sounding like "Hangin Tough" by NKOTB. I dunno. I just hate to drop all these kids off at the pool, unappreciated. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Funk is in the space. I think you could fuse these songs by shere attitude alone. Put on "badmotorfinger" (old soundguarden) for like a day. Take the old tunes as is but lay down some fierce live drumming and some lead guitar nuances with some power chords. Then, grip you testicles in a tight fist and re-record your background vocals. I agree. Some live drums and it will come to life. Sounds sorta Lenny Kravitz to me. A little ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY type energy would do it justice, IMO.
If I'm off keep in mind I'm listening to it at work in an office at about 40 db...

Yeah, same here, I didn't notice anything drastically out of tune but that could be because of the Octive pedal (or whatever effect you've got on the guitar)

Yeah, same here, I didn't notice anything drastically out of tune but that could be because of the Octive pedal (or whatever effect you've got on the guitar) Octave Pedals are for girlies with too few tracks!! That's me playing that crap way way way down the next on one track, and straight up on another track. But I only pull that off at the end of the song. The rest is good ol' Skynard double-guitars playing the same line. Hell yeya! The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Eagles, Skynard, it's a cool sound when there's harmonies being played together.
