Band update and questions for you Just an update on what I've been up to lately. I've done a few solo acoustic shows by myself after the bass player fell off the face of the Earth. I always bring my trusty 4-CD set of Prince karoake, which I bust out from time to time. P Control and Darling Nikki are two of the crowd favorites. I busted out a country version of I want your Sex the last two shows. It was dope. Yes, I did get together with some guys and for the past few months have been putting together cover songs that we can go out and play. It's a 5-piece - two guitars, keys, bass and drums. Everybody will get to sing lead at least once, but I'll probably be singing lead on about 80% of the songs. I guess in order to get gigs (around here) you have to get the folks dancing. Heres's some of the songs that we're doing: Wishing Well, Kiss, The Breakup Song, Oh, What a Night, Tainted Love, Stacy's Mom, Just What I Needed, Harder to Breathe, etc. What other songs would you suggest to do? Maybe some funky stuff? I don't know....

That tune, "F-- It, I Don't Want You Back" by Eamon is apparently huge with the college acoustic circuit - just get clearance that you can cuss in 50% of the lyrics, before the owner kicks you out.
"Creep" by Radiohead is another shocker - I whip into that and people start raising their glasses to toast. Some others that I'm surprised go over well: "Ball and Chain" by Social Distortion "Let's Get It On" by Marvin and, don't start laughing, "Dead or Alive" by Jovi. I swear. It's so cheesy that people start screaming along -- the Sambora part, "Waaaawnteeed!" it's bizarre how easy it is to win over a crowd with songs that you'd rather never hear again in your life. That's a great f**king song. I never watched Beavis and Butthead much, but I recall their commentary on this song. "This song sucks..." "No wait, it get's better..." "YES! YES!!!" As far as Dead or Alive goes... Jesus, how can you stomach that? lol

I don't know what that first song was, but I've played Creep, Let's Get it On (and Sexual Healing), and even Wanted Dead or Alive. I always play at least a couple Radiohead songs. I bet someone that I could get the crowd to sing along on Saturday (because they were ignoring me) and so I started playing 'Family Tradition' by HW, Jr. They all chanted, hooted and hollered.
