What is your one song What is your one song (one that we've heard or haven't heard) that you've created that means the most to you and why. I know you're not supposed to have a favorite child but what's the composition that you hold very close to your heart. I'd go first but I'd have think about it and come back with an answer.

"Daffodil"--tells the story of the first girl I fell in love with; it's about 9 minutes long because of the Prince-inspired guitar solo (definitely my overall fave!)
"I know I've Been changed"---my personal spin on the old spiritual (about to record this song soon) "Places"---another Prince-inspired song (a la "Strange Relationship", "Screams of Passion", and "Love Bizzare") written in a terrible state of depression, and singing about places (HEAVEN) where everything is OK! I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I think it's always going to be a song that I've recently worked on. The older ones, I've either forgotten the great things about them, (or the glow has worn off) or I dug them so much, I played them until I was sick of them.
My all time favorites are three: Bitch - (super heavy rock about my ex wife.) I Don't Give A Fxxx About You - (see above song.) Superhot Lady Copy I don't know if those are online anywhere. I'll look and let you know. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

That would have to be Belong. I wrote it in 4 hours, from lyrics to melody to music and arrangement. I only added the flute part a week later. I posted a brief insight into the song on my soundclick page:
I read the Artist's Way by Julia Cameron and one of the things she mentions in the book is the importance of "Just showing up". Weather or not something happens, you just have to visit your creative workstation. One night, around midnight I sat at the Korg and said "ok, give me a song." I wanted to write a song about the creative process and the awakening I was feeling because of the book. I wrote the words as fast as they came to me.
Immediately I came up with the melody for the lyrics and I knew that the middle was going to be faster than the first two verses. The bass line and the chords came next, then the drums, very sparse, but I think it works with the song... Piano came soon after and the flute part was done a week later. So everything was done by 4am. My most magical musical creating moment. The song is all about letting go and giving yourself up to the creative force. "I no longer belong to me." Its like enjoying the chase of love. "Don't give in, but don't leave. I live for your grace and dream for your disease. Call me crazy, but call me, please"
