Cloud guitar

Well I bought a blue cloud on ebay for 1270.00 Its a beautiful guitar and sounds great. I noticed that Edwards
sells a copy of this guitar with 3 single coil pickups for about 110,000 yen which is about 1100 us dollars. I wonder if I bought a copy if I could switch the pickups to resemble more of Princes guitar. Does anybody know anything about the Edwards guitar? Scotty, you out there?

Good morning fellas. I saw the big Cloud Guitar light in the sky and came running!

I've seen these Edwards guitars before but I'm afraid I don't really know the story behind them, other than that the design has been changed for 'legal reasons'.

As you can see, they have 3 single coil pickups and a Floyd Rose Licensed double-locking vibrato. They also have 24 frets and a kind of curiously shaped head. I can't help liking these guitars, even though I am a bit of a purist when it comes to Prince guitars (some might say nerd but hey!).

As far as making them a little more 'Princey', I don't think there's much to change. I would rout out the bridge pickup cavity and put a humbucker and fit a set of EMG's in there (man I sound like a stuck record!).

I think it's kinda cool to have a different format but retaining the Cloud looks. With a humbucker in there this would be a very versatile guitar. I'd go out on a limb here and say that I would take one of these over one of the Shecter copies, even though they are a long way removed from the original. They are sort of quirky and I doubt if many people have them.

More later when I've done my research!

Now back to the guitar cave...

Update...

The Edwards range of guitars are exclusive to Japan and are not available for sale anywhere else. My local ESP dealer can't get hold of them at all.

I'm in the process of finding out if they can be bought directly from Japan as they are very good value for money.
110,000 yen equates to about £550 ($825). Nice!

Let's face it, they are a lot more fun than a Strat and a damn site better looking wink

Scotty.

Only thing left to worry about is their quality.
