Forget the funk, check out this "trancey" techhouse track!

Reading otan's thread about 80's disco tracks with 16th note bass sequencing triggered me to upload a dance track I recently made, featuring: 16th note bass sequencing! cool

Of course this track (called "disco electro") is something completely different than the stuff I do with 2funkE, but I had a lot of fun producing this track. I suppose not many of you are into modern electronic dance music (the only ones I know are PP4 and Marc Deon), but maybe some of you might like the track. Check out http://www.soundclick.com...smusic.htm and let me know what you think about the song...

I'm a closet techno house freak. Love Chemical Brothers, BT, old Moby (GO!) and crap like that. But, hell no I don't go telling folks about it.

But obviously, I love the stuff - I'm the one what started the 80's tribute contest. I gotta go get started on my song right now, speaking of.

This has a certain Trance element to me. Very driving and very cool.

I used to be big into trance when I lived in London, so this is bringing me back some fond memories (or lack of! wink), thanks for this! Actually, have you heard of a group called 'Silicone Soul'? This is VERY similar in style, not as overwelming or dramatic as trance, but more smooth/cool feel to it.

Cool. I like the sounds you used and the beat is cool of course. I just want to hear a vocal or a solo melody on it. That's just me. Just something simple. I hear a crystal tube sound over this in my head.

I spotted the trance influence on this track too, but the "trance" word brings such a bad taste to the mouth nowadays. But to be honest, I like some trancey elements in house and techno music, these sounds make you float away...

And Vina, you might be right about adding some vocals. When I play the track I can hear some Sylvester style falsetto. I do a pretty good "Sylvester" myself, if I may believe Ingmar, so I just might give it a try...

Too funny.. Trance has gotten a bad rep here in the states as well. I'm a DJ and I can't remember the why or the when but I think people just got tired of every song being overly dramatic... 2 minute intros and 3 minute breakdowns. Enter a DJ that plays nothing but this and there you have it. I still like driving trance like this and I find it's very effective when used moderately in the mix.

Can't wait to hear you flow over the track...

Taureau, I know their name but I have never consciously heard any of the Silicone Soul music, but I'll make sure to check them out.

I don't like most trance music because indeed it tends to get overdramatic and often has this cheap melody stuff in it. But if trance is done more deep and tasteful, and has a powerful techno-like drive, I can really relate to it. The lack of melody and minutes lasting breaks, and the 16th note bass sequencing (the "disco" drive) set this track apart from the most "common" trance sound, I hope.

If I add some "Sylvester" vocals, I might even give the track a classic disco touch that would set the track even futher apart from the cheap stuff. I'm gonna give it a try anytime soon!
