SWING DOWN - new song - !hey! !religion! http://www.soundclick.com...dmusic.htm
Swing down and rescue all my hungry brothers ain't nobody left behind if you are up above us why should I care. why should i cry. how could you let so many innocent people die. Swing Down. I am afraid of missing my destination of safety and security and some kind of salvation so many preach at me but it's on deaf ears my intellect and logic have soothed each and every fear. -- sort of my ongoing debate with God. There's more, but it's cold. And I'm tired. and so, I'll add more lyrics to the song tomorrow night maybe. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Good work on this.
how many times have WE ALL been there once or a hundred times. Very honest. The Great: "How can there be a loving God if there is so much suffering" debate. Maybe we can tackle that on another thread... The song has some good ideas in there though! Let us know when you've got it in the can.

I sang it while the boy was asleep, so I couldn't let it out, if ya know what I mean... that, combined with my doubts about the lyrics at this point. I'm going back to the drawing board on the lyrics I think. MAN I love that keyboard tho. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Did you play the keys? cool
Unfortunately my earphone only works in one ear at work (Ima put a complaint in to my boss, no worries) but I think I can hear a real funky keyboard rythm which I like. Love your lyrics, and the topic. Spend your time being philosophical over this and you'll come up with some more great stuff. Don't let it get you too down though... ..... BULLSEYE!

I wanted something closer to the "Gett Off" solo tone - might have to record a miked amp (!?!?!) as opposed to running direct. The drums are just a loop I found in the recorder. Wanted to capture the original keyboard riff before I forgot it, and then, once that was done, I was off running - there's a spot in here where the bass goes to the B section too soon and everything else had to follow. edit: THANKS! Mastering - pump up the volume until it almost distorts on every track - same as if you were using tape. Also - there's that whole eq/spectrum issue. I've been trying to use instrumentation that won't overlap. The rhythm guitar is super-nasally, where as the organ is big n fat. And the electric piano is rounded - no highs, no lows. The bass is superfat with a little punch. The only thing that overlaps is the vocals - and those are lame on this song... I was singing super quiet so as not to wake the boy. What mic do you use? Guitar? Inputs? Maybe it's the temperature in the room - in my basement, there's no heat, so I have 4 hours per recording session before hypothermia kicks in. I feel a sense of longing for the truth out of u on this jam. U once said that u had your doubts about religion and with all things considered, who could blame u. Just continue to seek the truth and it shall be yours. It ain't about religion per se. It's about living life seeking the true meaning and experiencing the trip. Much love 2 you and yours Beau. I am hear 4 u when needed my friend. [This message was edited Mon Feb 2 18:53:36 PST 2004 by talmuzic] [This message was edited Mon Feb 2 18:54:52 PST 2004 by talmuzic]

I really dig the baseline on this. Keyboards are real nice. Your vocals are too buried, I think you need to turn the lead vocal up and keep the background falsetto where it is. I'm sure you probably want to re-record that so you can belt it out. The drum beat reminds me of Strange Relationship.

yaah! me too! There's a lot of parts in this that have that stompin groove near the end of Strange Relationship - I kept wanting to go "yaaah yah" And actually, the falsetto was sposed to be the lead vocal!! hah! I still don't know what I'm gonna do with this song. Love the groove, but the lyrics are too sophomoric - I want to work on them some more - make them less obvious.
