I would suggest having someone do the music for you. My boyfriend is a poet as well and he's done things like this with DJs mixing music behind him. If you want to do something all original, you may want to look into a program called ACID, then you can download loops and arrange them. Otan can hook up up with the details about how to get this online. I got a demo version of Acid DJ and burned a few discs of loops from a friend. I hardly use it, but it sounds like something that may be useful for you since you are starting out.

If you just want to set up some groove, the quickest solution might be to fiddle around with Fruity Loops... the visual interface makes it very easy to set up songs. But without ANY musical knowledge, you're definitely going to have a hard time generating your own music.

BUT - hey - Isaiah (PaisleyPark4) uses a thing called the MTV Tone generator or something like that, and he says it's very easy to create your own grooves without a whole lot of musical knowledge. I haven't checked it out myself, but he's DEFINITELY done some great work with it.

GET OUT! Oh that's just too damn cool. So, I now have a tax-deductible reason to go buy a PS2. That's right, big daddy's been riding the PSOne all this time. Too many other toys to play with - just couldn't justify buying ANOTHER game console. But shoot. I can make music! I'm there. Wonder if I can use it at gigs - maybe get a battery power for the thing. That way, I can perform and play Silent Hill 3 at the same time.

Yeah, I finally went looking for what PP4 was using and that's what it is. Then he's like 21 years old too! When i found this out i told him that it makes everything he's been posting here a million times better because of his limited resources.

Unfuckinbelievable! Talented little muthafucka!

Soundclick.com has a spoken word section

http://www.soundclick.com...bgenre=120

I'm sure these peeps would have some good suggestions too.

You might be able to find people who would create beats for you over here:
