new burly @ soundclick.com

Hey everybody. It's been a while since I've posted here. It's been a crazy past couple of months. My band has been playing like dates all over like crazy and we've been having a REALLY good time.
We've been recording some new tunes and I just posted two of them on Soundclick. Check them out if you have the time.

One is called "The Fall of Jack Lazer", which is one of my favorites, and I think some orgers will really like it, too. It needs some tweeking yet, but it's almost done.

the other is called "Arena Rock". Arena rock may be my least favorite as far as the recordings, but it's a blast live, cause it brings you back to the days of 80's Hair metal with a punk rock twist.

Anyways, I hope everyone's doing well. I'm off to catch up on the news in Princeland.

Peace and best wishes,
zach

Hey tal, how's it going??

That was actually the intro and outro to our first c.d., which was never actually released to the public, just our friends cause we weren't too happy with the production, but a few of the songs are on soundclick.

The umnumshiba's are the chant from "Temples of Doom" the indiana jones movie, when they are in the actual temple, and the evil priest guy takes out some guys heart with his hands and his goons are chanting umnumshiba over and over again. I don't know, it was just a fun thing to do, not take out someone's heart, but the chant thing.

Thanks for the tight compliment, that's cool of ya. The new album will be done and pressed by April(hopefully). I can send ya a disc if you like.

The trip to europe is on the back burner, but thanks for the info...What've you been up to? Hey I checked your tunes a while back. Did I tell you I like secret admirer and smilewiper the best? Anyways, take it easy, tal.

yeah, king's x is great. My biggest influence is actually fishbone, who just got done touring with king's x. Angelo Moore has a voice sent from heaven above, and his lyrics are truly enlightened.

Hey Zach!

Yeah, I could've sworn I was hearing that influence, which is awesome! I saw King's X and Fishbone when they came into town on that tour and they both cranked! I've been digging on Fishbone forever and I completely agree with you about Angelo!

And thank you for taking a listen to my stuff--its really appreciated!

Man, I'm getting on your mailing list too!

Such mutual respect...Tito, get me a tissue I'm getting misty lol

New Burly is AWESOME. Great production as well, was it done in a real recording studio? What do you play in this band again?

Have you ever heard of a band called "I Mother Earth"? I'm hearing it in "The Fall of Jack", just really tight with great stops & harmonies. (They're from Canada but their last album sucked.)

Arena Rock should be called Punk Rock. That's what I call it when I play it. Great tune, love the Amazing bass player and while I love funk, people don't scream enough in music today. It's like Nirvana on acid, love the energy.

I wish I could see your band live but I don't live near any of those places. With songs like these I bet your live shows knock people on their ass!

Thanks for sharing these music

Thanks!!! Yes, it was recorded with our friend Mike Dresch. He has done most of our recent recordings at his basement studio "The Cathouse". Cause he's got lot's of cats.

We're a little unhappy with the sound, though. It's sooo digital, which can be good, but I don't know if it's for us. We've been given the advice to go with recording on tape.

I think we're going to try Pachydyrm studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota next time. They've worked with artists like Nirvana, Live, Soul Asylum, PJ Harvey and countless others, and it's about $800 dollars a day(24 hour access), but it's in the middle of this big like state park and it's just a beautiful paradise rock star to the hilt studio. There are two houses, 1 is a regular sized rich person's house and it houses the recording area.

The other house is where you stay, and it's like a HUGE mansion with an indoor pool, full fridge, full bar, sattelite tv, and interns to go to the store for you if you need anything, HA!!. It's got a netted gazeebo over a stream where you can sit and relax/jam/whatever. And this guy that came with us flooded the pool and caused like 3,000 dollars worth of damage. hehe. Me and my party didn't get charged though. The last time I was there, I stayed in the room Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love stayed in.And I slept in their bed. EWWW!!! We're excited, and we already have material for our next album finished. Just need money. ARGHHH!!!

I have never heard I mother earth, but I've heard of them. And tal, Follow for now I have heard good things about. Coolness. Slave2thagroove, I haven't heard yo stuff in a while, think I'm off to listen. It's good to hear everyone is still kickin' it.

EEEWW is right! What Nirvana album was recorded there? That does sound like a paradise. How many nights did you stay there?

Fall of Jack reminds me of Pearl Jam kinda or maybe its Soundgarden. Good, rolling baseline. Cool harmonies. Actually it sounds like something from the Singles soundtrack.

Arena Rock kinda reminds me of RHCP during the slower/sung parts, then yeah for the screams its very Nirvana. Nice mix. I dig it.

Trump sounds like Mr.Bungle with Anthony Kedis singing. Very cool. Then it goes into more of a RHCP groove. Very cool. You guys are great. It's all you.

yikes

NFO, Thanks! Do all the submissions get on the compilation?

Vina, we stayed there a whole week!! It was funny fun fun. This rich guy paid for the whole thing for us. It was just a bunch of random musicians from sioux falls making music on the spot. It was kinda strange, cause the whole time I was really sober except two nights I got really drunk, but all the other musicians were all funked up on valium and other drugs. Me and this girl that was in my band at the time, katie, just hung out the whole time and just kinda walked around the studios, went swimming and stuff. Me and Katie only recorded on like 1 song, but had a blast. Ours was the only song that turned out any good. ha!! The other songs by the other blokes sounded like bad musicians on valium. The recording engineer must have thought we were a bunch of jokers!! That was back in like 97' I think.

The guy that paid for it was pretty cool. He was morbidly obese(like 700 pounds), and he just wanted some friends to hang around. He let us practice at his house, and let us use his gear as well. He had like 100,000 dollars worth of just guitars in his house.

He had a guitar, can't remember the brand. It was like a 20,000 dollar guitar. It was a hollow body I think, and it had this clear plastic on the front of the whole guitar, and when you hit notes there were lights on the inside and they would light up with each chord you would play. They were psychadelic colors. The guy said he, Ted Nugent and I were the only ones to ever play the guitar. hahah!! THE NUGE!! whatever. anyhoo, it was a sweet guitar.

this other band screwed him over and he won't let anyone even go to his home anymore besides his family. He was pretty hurt I think. But his kids still come to see us play all the time.
