I was wondering what equipment or music software etc. u need 2 remix songs. I'd like 2 remix some of my fave songs and was wondering 1st of all, how easy it is and 2nd how do I remove the music or lyrics from a song, or isn't this possible?

i would recommend 2 at least have some albums or cds. u should start with that.

Depending on your budget. ProTools, is the obvious choice for professionals but is quite pricey, a total Pro-Tools studio can run up to $20,000. Find yourself a synthesizer, and learn some Midi applications. There are a variety of software programs, Acid Pro, Sound Forge. I am constantly searching myself to meet my budget and skill level. I do work with beat matching from time to time to hear how the essence of one song may sound with a different energy and sound, that's bout the extent of it right now.

The cheapest easiest solution is to go download ACID Express at www.acidplanet.com - the free/demo version gives you 8 tracks to mess with.

Then, you can begin adding layers of the song you want to remix.

It's as easy as "painting" the sound onto the tracks, once you understand the basics of the software. You'll definitely need some sort of sound-editing software as well, just to get the loops from the songs you want to remix. I understand that Cool Edit is a good free application.

Yeah I don't think CoolEdit is completely free (the demo either has a limited life or limited functions), but you can find cracks for it on the net (try not to at work though, as crack sites tend to be associated with more than one kind of 'crack').
