Funk’s not dead...it’s just sleeping Otan. Althought the hip hop society has been nudging it for years... thieving sleep-talk and sleep beats.

I think maybe Funk was/is an ideology of the times. Whether it was the black power funk of the 60’s (Panthers) and James Brown’s anthem of ‘Say it Loud, I’m Black & Proud’ to Clinton’s political/sexual ‘free your ass and your mind will follow’, it was a time of serious political turmoil. Funk was an anchor, a powerful vision of counter-cultural community and political intervention. The ‘truth’ got replaced with the ‘funk’ and when you heard it...you forgot about being hungry, you forgot about the rent, you forgot about the killing wars.

I think this time is coming...if not here already...again. And it sure isn’t going to be today’s radio that’s gonna free my mind. I need, like we all need fresh funk. The entire world needs it, they just don’t know it yet because the airwaves have been jacked.

Funk is an attitude. Funk is an idea. Funk is many things. And as Clinton said way back then “Funk is whatever you need to survive. We don't take nothing as our bag. Everything is our bag."

Clinton may have had the vision, but the entire P-Funk project was very much a ‘COLLECTIVE’. Numerous musicians. Most songs were collectively written. Look how many bands sprung from this project. Even 1/3 of Prince came from it.

NFO has the right idea. It has the attitude. It has the FUNK.

Now imagine we round up a fleet of NFO vans, ammo up with CD’s and duct tape, sport some ski masks and hi-jack one radio station per city. We shut down the muzak computers, tie up whatever poor DJ’s are left and open up the airwaves. Can ya smell it! Funk Remains. Can’t ya just see the press. Funk Terrorists Storm the Nation’s Stations. NFO blamed.

Maybe we should get Electric Purple on this.

hahahaha...hey Slave...NFO.

Seriously man, I'm surprised someone hasn't attempted this yet. Be so easy. Wait for the wee hours of the morning, sneak in just as the night cleaners are leaving; usually only one DJ at that time. Tie em up. Chain the doors from the inside and... GOOD MOOORNING AMERICA!!! The Mothership has landed.

By 8:00A the building would be surrounded. The media would be eating out of our funky fingers. Every office, home and car would be tuned into the station to find out what was going on. Talk about One Nation under One Groove. And once they heard the Funk...that'd be it; they could never go back. We'd enlist the support of the listeners by having them surround the media below with chants of 'WE WANT THE FUNK" and phone in between the beats, airing their grievances about the state of radio. And after 24 funky hours...we would untie the DJ and quietly surrender. Hand them back their station. No damage, no harm...simply stole a frequency. Prolly just a small fine. NFO would be famous and the FUNK would be resurrected once again.

I like it!

BTW, could you help us pick 3 or 4 songs for a single (mail-out) from project one?
