"Perfect" - My first song on the org - what do you think? (UPDATED)

This is a demo, but it took me a pretty long time to make, nonetheless...

I played it all (vox, guit, bass, sax and programming).

Tell me what you think...

By the way, this is the extended version, so it is about 5 megs to download.

Cheers, peeps...

By the way, a full analysis from you folks with some constructive comments would be great!

I love it's originality and the beginning.

The Vox backed by strings in parts is really cool (then it swithces to guitar?). Awesome.

Great guitar solo at the break-down.

The over lapping vocals at 3:52 are cool but the mix seems to be a little muddy because of all of the other things going on at the same time.

Are you playing that sax? Any time someone adds horns to their tune, it's cool in my book. Love the outro with the guitar and horn with the sound effect on the end.

If I had some constructive criticism, I would say your levels overall are a little low (I had to turn my volume up to hear), then in some places it sounds a little busy where my ear isn't sure what to listen to and some things aren't audible. twocents

Overall, just really original and cool.

Thanks for sharing this

yes, i am playing the sax. thanks for your comments...the quality was reduced a little by converting it to 128kbps mp3...i agree that it gets a little busy in places...by the way there are no strings...that's all guitar you're hearing.

cheers and thanks for the compliments.

Rather than click it download it with "save target as". This way works fine for me.

I like it, very mid 80s Prince. Everything and the kitchen sink thrown in to nice effect.

Sure, I meant the mid 80s Prince comment from the point of view of the production values moreso than say your vocals or even musicianship. Fun track.

ok i just did it.

I think the song is aiight. they said it has a Prince vibe 2 it...I dont c that, but I think u have a sound that is similar to Artist08 and Styles. But I'm just judgin on the song that u have posted.
The vocals are not very clear, but the music is cool. For some reason it sounds like u'd sound better live. The drum track should be turned up a little also. Not like Im perfect or anything though. Glad 2 c that u are on the musicans forum.

Those sounds are scary where u are talking in both speakers. omg lol

When I mentioned Prince vibe I meant in an "Around The World In A Day"/"Christopher Tracy's Parade" type sense of massive production. It's not typical of the MPLS sound no.

Ok, Finally heard it!

You know, this reminds me a lot of David Bowie around the time period of Alladin Sane, which is one of my all time favorite albums...

I like what you did with the mix itself and the way you tweaked it throughout the song--it created a lot of different soundscapes in my mind...

interesting stuff!

I get kind of a Beatles vibe to this at first, then towards the end it's a lot like a Dream Factory era song. This is very creative. I always listen to tracks with headphones and I noticed the panning effects. Right on man! Guitar on one side and sax in the other, plus the drum machine, that part is TIGHT. Great ending too, that is something I really respect.

yes very Tin Machine/Bowie. Nice guitar solo. I hear a little Prince in there. Ear candy. Psycho-delic as in crazy trip 4 my brain. Interesting.
