More new songs on Soundclick ! (updated)

Ok, I just put another song up on Soundclick for your review and critique. I thought about putting some backing vox in but like the bridge so much that I had to put it up and see what you guys thought. Let me know what you think! It's called The Very First...

Ok, also, a tune called Touch Me Again. I just put that sucka on there. Not a lot o' reverb, either. Ok, no more songs for at least 24 hours. I'm not that prolific!

Ok, new version of "The Very First" especially for Tal is on now! Let me know if you like it better. I think it's a vast improvement myself.

hey man, what happened 2 the guitar playing? step away from the reverb unit. set it like u did on the last song u posted. an acoustic guitar would do more justice 2 this one. the bridge does have potential. I see u reaching for a beatles feel. I like that zydeco feel on Ukesinspace.

Tal, I guess I could record a version with acoustic guitar instead of the keys. I didn't add any reverb to anything this time, though. That must've just been the setting that I had it on.

Ok, I probably should just let this thread die, but if nobody wants to say anything about these last few songs that I put on then I'm assuming that they're not that good. I usually get some kind of feedback, be it a criticism or praise from certain folks...hmmm. I do want to thank those who've replied. I appreciate it and have been trying to listen and give more feedback to others as well. Good night all!!

Hey Brother!

In my opinion, the new music is pretty catchy. Actually, its a lot more radio friendly than my stuff is! The one thing I like a lot about your music is the strong sense of melody. The lead lines typically stick in my head after I've heard one of your tunes. Also, everytime I look up, you've got another tune up! Which means to me, that you record pretty quick! BTW, How long does it take you to finish a tune? Only reason why I ask is because I record pretty quick myself. Song structure is also pretty solid. If I had one very very minor critique I'd say sometimes, some of the vocal lines venture into the "blue note" area--but that's like really nitpicking (especially when I'm one to talk, ya dig?). Anyways, I always look forward to what you're offering up! As a matter of fact, I'd love to know what you think of me also...smile

Ok then,

peace

Thanks, styles. Actually, I thought that I wrote you a note about ur tunes but in case I didn't you kick ass, dude! In fact, you had me so jealous on one of those acoustic tunes that I shut it off so that I could get to work on improving a bit! I usually just start with ideas for songs and make sure I record the music or riff or whatever and maybe hum a melody line or something so I don't forget it. Eventually, I get around to them. For the song "touch me again" I put together a newer verse progression with a bridge and chorus progression that I had recently found on some of my old 4-track cassettes. I intentionally started to try to make newer stuff a little more catchy because a "peer" once criticized that I added too many changes and made things too difficult. Plus, if I would EVER by chance happen to shop any of these songs to someone there ain't gonna be no Muzak version of "The Aliens." It's the whole Lennon vs. McCartney songwriting argument so I'm trying to explore both sides. Also, after listening to Fountains of Wayne they are brilliant at putting together catchy pop songs - damn! (not that my goal in life is to actually write catchy pop songs, just songs that I like with nice melodies) So, anyways, as we speak I still have approximately 6 songs in various stages of completion. I haven't recorded anything new lately because I've been learning about 40 new cover songs for my acoustic shows. I hope I answered your question somewhere in this babbling. Did you ask a question? Haha!

Touch Me Again - Let me tell ya man. This is very catchy. The drum loop needs 2 b uppered a lil bit, but it has it's ground structure. This is very cool and good.! This is now my second fav orf yours now, after Dancin Round of course.

The First Time - UR music is very clearly written. Ur melody's and structure really have good basis and all needs just 2 b structured alil mo'. But it is good enough cuz we musicans and we dont have 2 b all professional and shit. I like the breakdown by the way. I wish i knew how 2 use keyboard sax cuz i never mess with it.

Thanks, Izak, PP4 (and other aliases you have) for your feedback. As you know, your opinions are always appreciated! Well, I know I won't be changing that breakdown part because I played it all in the same night all in one take for those four parts (keys & 2 horns, bass) and have no idea what I played. For once it just sort of came out. Thanks again!

"Touch Me" has a Bob Dylan flow. Better job on mixing the lead vocal. Better dry mix. Good job of singing as usual. Redo a version of "The First Time" with acoustic instruments and let's see. Bring keys in on the bridge. Don't take this the wrong way but like on "Don't Come Home" it sounds like a guitarist trying to play keyboards. The equivalent would be what I sound like on guitar. Kinda hard on the ears. I can feel the pain in this one.

Thanks, Tal. Yep, I've been hearing the Dylan and George Harrison comparisons on that one a lot. I will redo that song with an acoustic guitar, also. Good idea. And about the keyboard playing - I know as a keyboardist I'm a good guitarist. Lol! I'm assuming if I actually was to record a real CD I would go into a studio with GOOD musicians and cut these tracks. Thanks again for the comments.
