Jshua--One mo' Time.... Hey Everyone!
I decided that before I sprinkle y'all with some new stuff, I'd delve one last time into my older stuff from my last CD, so here goes.. http://www.soundclick.com/jshua Poem--This is a trip-hop/electronica joint.. Fantastic!--This is part two of a suite of music I did. Consider it Rock and Roll with a twist! (complete with storyline) Like Weather--What can I say about this one? Its based upon something that happened with me and a ballerina (long story ). Very Artsy, very visual.. This is part 3 of the same suite of music Hope you enjoy! and, oh yeah... I also brought back the funk with a little ditty entitled: 70's Tribute!!! see if you can guess what tune it is in 10 seconds or less... Jshua

So what the hell? You got a Vault?
More cool stuff, love the vocal harmonies in that 70s jam and the solo's are pretty sweet too. Falsetto god. Fantastic is very Prince to me. Maybe the guitar tone, maybe the whole song. If it could be improved, I would say the mix has a little to much treble or high end in it. Is that you talking? Like Weather is a little slow but if it's part of a Rock Opera then maybe that's the part that the audience gets a drink or snuggles their woman. Very Prince inspired as well. Love your diversity and all of this music. Again, thanks for opening the Vault.

Hey Slave2daGroove!
So...do I have a Vault? do ya' really wanna know? Seriously, yeah I do... These tracks were done back in 2000 Fantastic was influenced by the Gold Experience era and Like Weather was influenced by the Dream Factory era... And yes, that is me talking (with a few friends also) Thank you for the shoutout! I appreciate the feedback--I've been undergound for a couple of years... Jshua

Jshua, I am blown away by your music man. "Like Weather" is an epic, symphony, masterpiece. Where can I get your CD? If u and Flashpointe (Jason Dodson) were 2 combine forces u all could be a new revised "the Family" maybe along with Vina and Lewis and maybe myself on keys. I could not leave myself out. Maybe Izak as Jerome the innovator. Not to leave out Beau on guitar for the chicken grease.

Hey Tal!
Thank you Brother! I honestly, didn't like the results I got with that CD project, so I scrapped it. I, however, can send you a copy if you'd like. Its a Double CD concept project... And oh yeah, "The Family", huh? Funny enough, I wrote to J.D. about putting together some sort of collaboration but I haven't heard anything back yet. He's a very busy guy. None the less, we ought to do something like this: It would be pretty cool! p.s. Thanx for the nod on "Like Weather"!!! That's not an easy one to get into... Jshua

Where does one do something like this? Abbey Road studios? Love the dialogue, too! Ok, what exactly did YOU do on this track? I want the breakdown. And where are you from? I'll be your opening act! Lol!

I hate 2 sound like a fanatic but "I Can't" has me hooked. I listen 2 it everyday. It is really saying something to my mood right about now. It is so beautiful. Post more ballads if u got them...

Ok... You ain't gonna believe this but "Like Weather" is a part of a 2 CD set that I did in 2000 in my place at the time. It was from a remote unit that was given to me by some friends of mine. I had a month to record free of charge and what happened off of that month was a double CD concept project for which I did everything for, save for the guest vocals, and my name (which God gave to me). My friends are pretty (how should we say?) well to do within this current musical climate. Meaning that: You have either seen some of them on MTV and have heard some of their projects (allbeit out of Nashville) on the Top 40 stations. I have always been to my friends a bit of a musical anomoly. Because I can't read music but I can tell you where everything should go. For example: Like Weather, I heard in my head, complete, first--before touching an instrument. If you listen closely, you will find what seems to be a drum track in 3/4 time-->I made that my click track. Very similar as a click to "A Place in Heaven". I then played the piano part straight through to the click and made that my base instrument. I deviate, depending on the instrument, mood and song at hand. I added each additional instrument straight through until I got the desired effect. For me Its more mood, emotion and feeling versus actual musical knowledge; Or as I like to put it: I am not a musician, rather I manipulate the instruments in such a way to render the desired effect I get from them... As I've said before, I'm from Earth--just like you and I'm not quite ready to say hi to the world more or less because of the fact that I've still got a lot of things to do in a short time before I come above ground. thank you for the shoutout on the dialogue!!! Much love! Jshua

This explains so much. As for the rest of your explaination, that's also how I've been doing things except with limited resources. That's changing as I speak Much repect, Mr. Vault.

Hey Slave2daGroove!
Thanx for the shout out! As far as my friends go: Its a long story... But its really cool to hear that our recording processes are so similar. For me, its all organic actually. A simple voicing or sound effect has brought forth a tune or the beat of the traffic. As long as we get it out, now that's the most important thing! Jshua

Ok, my turn. (Bout time huh?)
Poem is very cool. I don't like the Milli Vanilli sound though, I know they weren't the only ones to use that sound, but I see them everytime I hear it. Why don't you put all your lyrics up? I'd like to read along. Some lush strings in the background would really fill this out nicely, imo. I really like the sound effects in this though, especially the phone. Like Weather. Very nice. I hear the influence of the Dream Factory, but it's not riping it off. I like the simplicity of this one. LOVE the strings that come in. Absolutely beautiful! At about 5:50 it sounds a little like Danny Elfman score music. Then it changes right away again. Very magical, inspiring stuff. Damn, you just keep pulling more rabbits out of your hat! Oh, now you hit me with a saxophone. Love the eastern vibe of it here. Wow. You are too incredible. This is AMAZING! So do you have a day job?

Yeah, I missed you, although it was understood and I hope everything is progressing forward at a good clip! I'll start posting the lyrics (I didn't know if anyone would be interested). Honestly, I wish I could put up some Claire Fisher strings on Poem-Now that would be cool... I'm glad you liked Like Weather--that one is a bit of a stretch, eh? I wanted the listener to be able to imagine their own version of what the "movie" would be like, so I set up what amounts to a soundtrack, if you will, that one could conjure up in their mind. That's how I built the Last CD project--a 2 hr and 14 minute soundtrack to a movie that isn't, yet...but who knows? and yes, I do have a day job (unfortunately) Jshua

Simply put, Jshua, you are one bad ass mutha! And that my friend, is just the way it is!
Poem is AWESOME. Your own version of Love Hangover is the jam. Both of those two songs made me realize once again that I ain't s**t! There were parts of Love Hangover that just about made me think you WERE Prince. And that is a HUGE compliment coming from me. The vocal arrangements are EXACTLY like Prince on Love Hangover- the part where it goes into o-verrr. Man. This is a good thing to listen to in the AM- it just got me motivated for the day. I dig Midnight also. A "LoveSexy" era rock jam. Very artistic and creative. Good stuff! Your friend, Jason

Your killin me over here with that 70's tribute.
The thing is, that I've heard it before and it's still KICKING MY ASS! The chorus, the groove and the quality of the mix with the harmonies are all things I attribute it to. Then how did you record the dusty, scratchy old record at the end/beginning? I've recently broke up this band I started playing with and I've got a few things to wrap up before I can get back to recording. I'm hoping by mid-Febuary and I'm using this song one of my inspirations because I'm FEELING IT and it's the direction I'm trying to go. Glad I come to the Org while at my day job:lol: Thanx again, Josh typo edits [This message was edited Mon Jan 19 13:26:01 PST 2004 by Slave2daGroove]

Hey Slave!
Thank you Brotha! You know, I had a lot of fun with that tune! I do a lot of things "homemade" and the dusty record sound was one of them---I took a few samples and compiled to get the desired effect... Thanx for listening to this tune--can't wait to hear what you cook up! Its all about streching the Limits! Jshua

Cool, you've soaked up a lot of study from the Prince handbook, great production/musical values and sound like you're having fun, which is main thing.
