hey all - new to group

I've been lurking on the prince.org site for a while, keeping tabs on one of my all time favorite artists and just recently found out there was a musicians board. Very Cool. Looks like a good bunch of people.

I'm a 26 year old songwriter that plays and produces all my own stuff. I'm currently working on a disc and have a few tunes I've done this past year. Let me know what you think.

Anyhow, I'll be stopping in here from time to time.

Slave2daGroove

Very pop-ish but extremely cool. Love your changes and the production quality.

Please give us more info on what you're doing. Playing all instruments, recording in a studio or in a basement (as if)

Welcome and thanks for sharing your cool music.

good production.how are u recording?"journey" has an Earth Wind and Fire type lyric rhyme thing going. I like it. Very pop.On "Doesn't Matter" I played a piano/string program over your groove and it sounded alot fuller at the half way point(at the chorus). it made it sound happier and ambient.try it. I was using a D major 7 in second inversion to a G major 7 omitting the G with a B,D,F#,B (right hand action only)

thanks everyone

SLAVE:

I do play all my own instruments, but use samples for the drums. I use a combination of ACID and Sonar. I use acid to create the rhythm via samples, throw down scratch tracks and build structure. Then I import into sonar and start tracking for real.

I have a bedroom setup. I use a podxt for my guitars, plug direct to the mixer for the bass, and I use softsynths or AKAI discs via kontakt. I like to use dynamic mics for most vocals. My SM57 with a RNP (preamp) with electrical tape is my favorite, but sometimes I'll hook up three different sounding mics and mix. I did this on The Journey. I used a studio projects C1, my SM57 and an ATM25. I also use the UAD-1 Powered plugins which make a big difference.

I better stop, I can go on & on about this stuff.

STYLES:

Thanks for the comments. I like Jazzism, The drums and timing on the song are excellent.

TALMUZIC:

I'll have to try that, that's cool. I'm using a lot more keys on the newer stuff I'm doing. Earth Wind and Fire - Right On you just made my night!

LENAE:

Thanks for the welcome. I was in a three piece and we used to play live all the time. I just played bass at that point. I like having full creative control, but I'll probably put a band together at some point.

Arn't you creative... That is a cool title I didn't see that, very cool!

Hi Toy!

The Journey is cool. It almost has a Presidents of the United States of America vibe, combined with that Two Princes track from the Spin Doctors. I'm diggin it. Very nice arrangement and production. Very impressive for home recording.

Doesn't Matter Anymore. Great mixing skills! I'm listening with headphones. I can hear the slight delay on the vocals. Wow, how long have you been recording and did you study anywhere? Your voice is great too. You kinda remind me of Jeff Buckley a little bit. What are your influences?

Diconnected. Whoa! Nice intro... I'm surprised no one had said anything about this yet. So what movie did you sample for that? Nice baseline throughout and really cool vocals.

Heroes. Very cool cover. Almost has a U2 feel.

So do you wanna submit a track to the New Funk Order?
