VERY GLAD to hear everyone is enjoying the new direction with the website. When you guys get excited, it truly helps fuel us involved in working harder on it.

Not to steal any thunder from prince.org, but for those that want to get involved, please vist the "new funk network" often and voice your opinions to make this project better and better. We really want this to involve as many artists possible and produce the funkiest online albums out there free from corporate control and the benifits in the artist's hands.

Keep checking back all month as there will be major changes that are still in the works!

Oh, and by the way.

Did you hear about Project Two?

READ David Ogilvy's book: "Ogilvy on Advertising"

Read the case studies using color, shapes and fonts and you will see why we went that route. Although these studies were done more for print advertising than web, this is a bible for marketing.

There were great studies shown in there where his company ran the same ad in various styles within the same demographic area and you will be supprised with which designs got the overwhelming responses.

I am on information overload right now. Been od-ing on Duran Duran since last week. (They are the reason I started creating music.) Saw my main man, Nick Rhodes and Company live on Sunday night, then came to work Mon and Tue to MAJOR chaos and deadlines. Thank God I can chill now. My voice is almost recovered.

Do you have Word? That's good with the spell checking. Even does grammar.

I just recently got Microsoft Office for the MAC. I just hate using multiple apps. Dreamweaver MX has it now too. I'm just looking for a second pair of eyes to double check. You know how it is when your looking at something for a long time you get blinded by the obvious.

Yeah, I know sweetie. I'll double check it as soon as I can. But really, anyone involved with the NewFunkOrder should point these things out when they see them. It only helps us to have mistakes corrected. Sure, they may just be typos because we are doing stuff at 3am, but attention to detail is vital to making a good first impression.

Like when our mp3s were poping. I know some artists didn't even know that their tracks sounded like crap because of it. Everyone should at least test their tracks (download them) and make sure the right thing is representing them to the world.

screen resolution MUST be at 1224 X 768 or greater for best results

Try full screen. I have my puter at home set to 800x600 and I can see most of it. There is menu at the top that goes across the screen. Hit F11 to get full screen, just hit it again to get back to regular screen.

Looks great mate. I think it graphically represents what we're all about better now & I like the look & feel. Different colours on the pages really help with the navigation & the text is well displayed & readable. The project section is especially good with the project one & project two sub sections. Good Job!

Its very possible to achieve the same effect without using any flash though (says the owner of an entirely flash site lol) but its always a good idea to use as little flash as possible, Ive learned that the hard way when cloud9mission.com went all flash as my hits have halfed since doing so. Gotta design me a html version soon but its such a huge task to make two versions of a site.

The only flash used is the navigation menu and the main graphic on the home page, oh and the previews.

I thought that was pretty minimal. Are you suggesting replacing that too or somewhere else?

I found the flash menu effective because I'd only have to update one file if that menu changes. If I broke it down into little individual buttons and changed one, that would most likely involve changing the placement and possible sizes of other buttons and functions of them.

the rest is great but the flash navigation was my concern. If someone dont have flash, they cant navigate the site but I see why you did it now

One suggestion though, we need a newsletter for people to subscribe to. Either a yahoo group or another newsletter software that allows you to put a subscribe box on the site

http://groups.yahoo.com/g...funkorder/

Check it out

I like msn groups more than yahoo groups, but now that I think of it, the official message board that we have works for people to get info. I mean, if we use a yahoo or msn group, who is gonna be in charge of posting info on there?

I'll post a message now about the new site and project, but we have enough boards to keep track of for nfo info, here and the official board.

peace

Personally, I HATE yahoo. except for the TV commercials (they're pretty funny with that song)

We DO, however have a newsletter feature on the php forum board as well as the cafeshop thingy already.

The message board seems like the best route being that someone would only have to enter any criteria for such things only once.

I think the real concern would be WHO would voluteer to take responsibility to write a bi-weekly/monthly letter?

Vina, I see you edited your post before I posted my last one!

Ok, so the php board has a feature to e-mail everyone that has registered on the board. (that supplied a valid e-mail address, I do not remember if that is required to register)

So we could create a template and change the text with every letter I suppose.

Let me take a look.
