Best deals on equipment? Hey everybody,
I have been doing research online and I'm trying to decide on who has the bets deals on music equipment. There's always musiciansfriend.com but I figure there has to be somebody out there to compete with them. I am even considering maybe buying something that has been refurbished. I was going to maybe trade in my Yamaha Motif 8 for the newer model BUT when they guy told me that they (the Guitar Center) would buy it back for $1,000 after I spent over $2,400 about 6 months ago I was like...HUH??? hehe So I am thinking of getting a decent portable keyboard. I still need something professional though with good sounds that I can still record. I already know what model I'm going to buy, I'm just trying to find the best deal online. :+) P.S. I was doing some reasearch and ebay kinda seems overated as far as deals. :+) Take care everybody

Why shouldn't anybody share? hehe Yeah, done the paper thing and all. I did buy my keyboard too (mentioned it on another thread or 2) and a mic. I was pretty sure that there would be something online where you can get good or great deals on MUSIC stuff. I guess my search continues. If I find anything good, I'll post it! :+)

Hey. Well, 1st off don't do the MF.com thing. They are terrible. Shipping is always a gamble. I have personally and have friends who've completely gotten the shaft from them shipping-wise. Sure they replace things, but the hassle of packing it up, reshipping...you catch my drift.
As for refurbished from them. GOOD LUCK! I bought a refurbished instrument that was told to me that it had a minor cosmetic flaw. To me this could be anything from a laquer flaw to a ding out of the finish. I proceeded with the order because I didn't care about a ding. Well, when I got the instrument it was much more than a ding...the entire neck was broken, and put back together. So obviously their definitions are completely off. I would say their intent is money over supporting musicians. And I have yet to speak to anyone there who would remotely be a musician anyway. If a new keyboard is what you seek, check out keyboard sites/msg boards. I would imagine that you have or are. They would know better than I where to shop for that type of instrument. I'm a bass/guitar guy myself. Hope that helps at least a little. [This message was edited Mon Dec 1 1:46:52 PST 2003 by Phra]

I ordered a refurb bass from Musiciansfriend and I'm pretty happy. Don't forget you have a 45-day period to try the instrument out. When I found that out - and they pay shipping if you DO send it back - it was like, I had nothing to lose. Yeah, it's a pain if you DO have to send it back, but, well, that's why the bass was less than HALF the normal price.
And, honestly, I have no idea WHAT they thought was wrong with this bass. But, yeah, I'm sure it's a crap shoot on that. I dunno if I'd buy anything electronic (keyboards, drum machines, etc) that were refurb... no telling WHAT you might find out 6 weeks later. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3
