40 "ideas" since August.

So far from fisnished tracks that it's sad. I fact, I've posted them on here. Definately not comparable to Cloud or DreZone.

It's funny that I'm typing this because just last night, my friend said no more ideas let's complete some tracks.

That'll be the next 4 months, with live drums.

I have close to 400, the first one completed back in late '84. The majority of them written between '85 to '90. I'm probably still happy with about 50 of 'em, and proud enough to share maybe 20 of 'em, and most of these were written in the last two or three years.

Errr... I have lost count long ago. I basically got my recording studio about 4 years ago. That's how long I've been doing my "serious" recording. Other than that I used my old ghetto recording rig or my very nice recording studio at my high school and conservatory. I will try to figure it out but I have no clue. Ummm... this reminds me of when people ask me how many songs I've written. hehe I remember this one musician was trying to "brag" once. He said something like he wrote 30 songs(I remember that part well) in the time span of like I think 30 years. 1 song a year? :+)

I recently transferred all my old tape-based archive masters on to CD thus to prolong them before severe tape drop-outs became prominent.

I always listen back over the years because it keeps me on my toes as to where I started, where I was and where I am now... kinda like a musical evolution.

Of course theres garbage in there but it's amazing how ideas can spawn from 'garbage' and become masterpieces.

It's also a form of carbon dating - I listen to a track and remember exactly what I was doing and the reasons for recording at that precise moment in time.

Hundreds in the past 5 yrs. 30 finished songs in the last two yrs. I purposly have slowed it down. To train myself to be more intricate and detailed minded.

Most artist/musicians can come up with good musical ideas. But you will never evolve into a true professional level recording artist, producer, or arranger unless you take the time to develope the necessary skills that only come with, taking your time in understanding and becoming proficiant in doing every step in the entire song creation process RIGHT!

You literally will make hundreds maybe even thousands of little decisions when you create a professional level recording!

Quality over Quanity!

Whether it's marketable or not is not the issue. For me, music is therapy, an outlet, a form of expression it can be summed up in one track, it can be done in dozens!

WOW. I wish for two things now...

That said, I only have 6 recordings, one is complete, two are almost complete, two are nowhere near complete, and one will be the greatest funk jam ever recorded*, but is only a third of the way complete.

*by me at least.


I don't wanna end up drowning in my own vomit or anything funky like that, I'm just doing it for fun!...ever since I descovered that inventing something on guitar can be way more fun that playing someone elses song!

it's a lie, 4 recorded on semi professional studio with my band.

and probably 50 recorded on my own at my house, but most of them are experimental songs, some of it are jokes, and some of it are just a bunch of noises and strange arrangments.

I would like to record a CD cause it's like to write a book, to mess up with great amplis and diferrent guitars, and to record with great recordign equipments, it may sound like hypocrisy(spell?) but i don't care if i will ever make sucess, besides the money i wouldn't care, my ultimate goal is to have a solid band and write great songs and play live at any small pub gettign high and drinking with cool girls. :p in my book, this is sucess and rock n roll, even if there is just 15 people at the pub. i don't know what this have to do with the topic but but buttt i

On the topic, I've been writing seriously for about 6 years and I've got 14 90 minute tapes filled to the brim with complete vocal/guitar songs plus another 40-50 tunes like that on my comp. I only started fully recording them (drumz and all) last year about this time and I've got about about 30 or so tracks I've recorded completely since last November. I have to get my shit together as far as posting stuff goes cause I'd like to get all your thoughts on some of my stuff.

Since 1990, amateur and semi-pro combined, probably about 500 songs.

500 songs in 13 years.


The first 5 years (1990-1995) were mostly hip-hop. Since 1995, there has been R&B and funk in there. In 1999, I got my first semi-pro equipment, and since then I have been pretty much doing funk, but I still do hip-hop every noe and then. I started doing more spiritual music in 1998, and in 2001 I started making Christian music.
