www.funkmusician.com

Okay, I'm almost finished with this thing.

If you have the time/interest, could you go take a look at the site and tell me if there's anything glaringly wrong? Appreciate any feedback at this time.

And yeah, I wrote all the stuff myself, so it'll read like one long-winded post from me, but, hey, I definitely welcome any input from any of y'all. Especially in the bass and drum sections. I'm writing from the top of my head in those areas, and the sections are pretty much empty right now.

BUT HEY, the GUITAR SECTION is awesome. If I do say so myself.

http://www.funkmusician.com/home.html is working fine. Looks like you've got an index.html or something there that is defaulting as the homepage instead of http://www.funkmusician.com/home.html like I'm guessing you want it to be.

I KNEW you were gonna ask me for that. Sadly, I have no knowledge of FUNK keyboards. Manki, Jason and Geoffrey can probably give you the 411.

I know. I'm waiting on Geoffrey to get back in the mix. And okay, just haven't had a chance to add to it. I'm on it. It's on the "damn I gotta get on that cuz there's more keyboardists on funk that feathers on a chicken."

I'm off to catch David Ryan Harris. See you guys tomorrow.

I'll pay your website a visit, I'll let you know what I thionk about it!

Cool site Otan! I like how it's easy to get around. Almost makes me want to start doing Web design again. hehe Good content in there too. Maybe if I get some time to breathe I will type something up about funk keyboard.

Of course there's Sly but I feel like the real root is Dyke from Dyke and The Blazers who wrote "Funky Broadway" (Actually written about the street I grew up on in Arizona!!! Ironically he was shot and killed on that same street) He was one of the first to mention "funk" in his songs and used that as a "theme". Maybe even if you want to get technical James Brown too. He plays keys, even though it he's not the greatest or known too much for that. You can't forget Stevie Wonder, George Duke did some nice jazz/funk in the 70's (I like his work best with Frank Zappa though...hehe) There's also Bernie Worrell from Pfunk. Oh, Roger Troutman of Zapp and Roger mostly played keys but of course he's know for his "talk box" effects. Errr... maybe another jazz/funk person could be Herbie Hancock. Oh duh... Booker T (Booker T and the MG's... I LOVE the Stax Records sound) did some early funk too. Art Neville(founder and keyboardist) of The Meters started doing funky music in the late 60's (Their song "Cissy Strut" has about the FUNKIEST drums on it too that I've ever heard)

I dunno, there's a list maybe you could start with off the top of my head. hehe Anybody else read the book "Funk"? I bought it when it first came out. I think I've read it twice. It does a pretty good job, even if I don't agree with everything it says. :+) I'll shut up now. This is why my family doesn't let me play MUSIC trivia with them. hehe

Only one problem I've found - the red "bar" on the page displays differently on some browsers, so it might be worth checking that out when you get a chance.

The content so far is great though! And the forums work fine too.

Lewis - org me about the song.

Thanks you guys. I still need to add a few more things before it goes legit.

So, where is your linkage to the New Funk Order site? Also, are you gonna link up your fellow P.Org and NFO artists? I really like the site and your work. You gotta represent your peoples!

Roger Troutman of Zapp played not just the keyboards and the 'talkbox' but Harmonica and Guitar amongst other instruments. Roger was very, very talented, equally or more talented than Prince is.

Yeah, I knew all that but I was just talking about various keyboardist and people who were well known for that. :+) I think he was mostly known for keys and the things he did with the keys/talkbox. It annoyed me when he passed away and somebody said "all he did was that computer voice"...some people just don't know! Anyway, take care everybody
