The oposite of writer's block is.....

RED LIGHT FEVER!!!

You may notice that Ive been a little quiet lately, some may think its a good thing, but its driving me nuts. Its worse than writers block because I have 4 ideas to work on but just cannot play them when I hit that record button. Before I start recording, its fine but as soon as I do I just cant seem to play it right.

Anyone else ever experienced this??? Got any tricks for getting rid of it??

The most difficult thing is having excellent song ideas but not being able 2 write them down or record them cuz u cannot write music sad and have pages of song lyrics instead.

How easy is it 2 write and read music?

I get taht way with guitar solos. I'm a jazzer naturally so having to come up with a decent 8 bar rock solo I get all sloppy and shite without having a few bars 2 work in2 it.
What point are you at? Are you just demoing the songs, just piecing the tunes themselves together, or are you in the process of making a more final version? I would say taht if you're piecing things together or demoing, don't worry if it's a little sloppy. That's the whole point of a demo anyway.

My ass! Okay I can read Drum music and Piano/Guitar charts but I have 2 part company with U on the simplicity of the concept!

I'm feelin' U on the writers block right now. U were in Italy for awhile, didn't ya soak up any music culture? maybe U could incorporate stuff U've heard in2 some new projects

(said the man who really should be listening 2 himself!!!)

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

I guess I learned it all backwards. I could read & write music before I could read & write english. True theres difficulties but its just another language at the end of the day.

Not a lot of music in italy when I was there. We found the closed music shop on the last day & thats as close to an instrument I got for the two weeks sad. In fact come to think of it, maybe thats it! Im just a little rusty

I dunno about that - there's theory - you'd have to learn some theory to write out the music you hear in your head, so it's not just a matter of learning to read & write the language, you'd have to learn it - understand it - as well. Might be easier to get a 4 track and hum your ideas, then add your lyrics to that.

Yeah true but theres just as much theory behind English language. Whether you say wear or where changes the meaning of the word. Its a commonly used teaching tool to compare music theory to the english language.
