More streaming FUNK!

Don't forget Red's suggestion too. So cool because they play deep, unknown vinyl andthey let you download the whole 2-hour show.

There's so many versions of songs I haven't heard, there's so many artists that I didn't know about

It's almost as educational as that PBS Blues special.

Just listening to some of these shows and of course the hip hop that’s thrown into the mix makes me realize more and more, at least in my opinion, that it’s hip hop that’s managed to link generations and keep the funk alive. Some of these kids are so young, early early 20’s, yet they’re extremely in the know about the Funk. They’re responsible for bringing back peeps like James Brown, Bootsy, my man Sly and of course George Clinton - who was influence by Sly. It’s James Brown’s break beats that can be found in the early early hip hop jams of the 70’s. And it was Dr. Dre who brought back the mothership in his video ‘Let Me Ride’. And Digital Underground who in ‘87 sampled the hell out of P-Funk’s ‘Aquaboogie’. In fact when Clinton heard it, he couldn’t stop himself from getting involved in their next project, appropriately titled ‘Sons of the P’. So as raw as hip hop can sound, it was / is very instrumental in keepin' and spreadin' and experimentin' wit da funk. LONG LIVE THE GROOVE.

I have another one for the list ya'll. It's great you've found these two because for the last several years I've only been tuning into just one weekly streaming funk show...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radi...l?funkshow

Craig Charles used to play a character in the original Red Dwarf series on TV. This funk show he does every week goes on for a good couple of hours...he tends to mix classics with rare 'aint heard that before' groove, but his shows also have regular little sections like interviews with funk stars, a 'sample city' segue where he finds out who sampled what, and a 'facts of funk' thing...
