Power Intensive is quite good thusfar (listening to it as we speak). I prefer the intrumental parts though, the sax solos.

2nd verse is good (the sung part).

Buy My Soul is good also, funky, Qualified to Funk has potential (again, I think the vocals need some work)

Tracks three and four sound suspiciously alike hmmm

yes, "too funky" is a rap song built around a sample of the "changing point of view"'s intro..
in "power intensive" the solo is a trumpet.
thank you very much for your opinion!

Well it's "Music" and its "Non Prince" so my guess would be the "Music: Non-Prince" forum !

Try the Musician's Hangout!

You should get a lot of feedback there!

There's a whole forum just for this kind of thing.

This is the right forum for all people on Prince.org to share their music, whether it sounds like Prince or not. The "Music, Non-Prince" forum is for people to talk about professionally released music from people who are not Prince.org members.

Peace,
JD

I've been to Italy and this is very funky for a true Italian. I have been to Milano and it is beautiful.

well, actually nobody knows what funk is here in italy.. the ones who tried quickly disappeared after a while.. italy has a STRONG tradition in melodic songs but the rhythm has never been our prerogative. I come from the south of italy, the part of the nation where the african influences are more present and i can't leave without feeling the groove in everything. Believe me, the difference between north italy and south italy is tremendous!!
I remember in the late 70's (the only period where soul and funk appeared in italy) when an hystorical meeting happened at the apollo theater. NAPLES MEETS HARLEM where my favourite italian funky musician (now disappeared) played with musicians like JAMES BROWN and the temptations!
i'm trying to keep the funk alive in italy. i'm not jamiroquai but i need to try. Everything born from south italians in italy has always encountered the STOP of the rest of italy where the "southerns" have always been considered in years "the poor brothers", the ones to be ashamed of. And it's a political problem, not only a musical problem. the south of italy has never receiced helpings from the govern, who has considered "the southern problem" as the last problem to be considered.

P.S: Milan is a nice city but it's the city of Berlusconi. 'nuff said..

Qualified 2 Funk is dope man! Has a nice laid back groove 2 it. The vocals need a little tweakin, maybe a reverb chorus, that would turn it out!

Dr. Stone, you are THE MAN! I listened to some of your songs at lunch here at work (I don't have a home PC) and I must say that I am impressed! I am really diggin' this stuff! It is SOLID and in the pocket. I never heard any funk like this from Italy before. You do have the P! "Funksters of the Universe" is some nasty funk! I like it! "Mirror" is very groovalicious, and you are indeed "Qualified to Funk"! "Funksters" is my personal favorite. I am gonna download them all this weekend here at work and they are gonna be added to my favorites!

Keep up the funky good work! We would love to see your songs on the NFO Project 2!

Your friend,
Jason

Dr. Stone,

All I can say is WOW. Italian funk is amazing, or maybe it's just you. Solid is an understatement, all of your stuff is really well done and funky.

How are you recording and mixing? Horn section? What are you playing? Just a million questions.

Another ad guy that plays music, welcome. There's a few
people of us here that work in advertising.

Let's let's just be clear, you are qualified to funk.

Thanks for sharing!

... guys... you embarass me!!

just to answer your questions:

- i record with an atlon 1.2 Ghz and a Soundblaster audigy (hrmph), but i'm passing to a Creamware LunaII.
I use cakewalk, Logic, Acid as softwares.

- The horn sections sometimes are AKAI samples used in Logic, sometimes are simply samples from various songs

- i play bass as main instrument, guitar (rhythm guitar.. i'm not so good doing solos), keys (i have a master keyboard i associate with Logic Audioinstruments and various plug-ins) than i sing (a shure), i also have some percussions i like to add (aggs, bongos, triangle)

love to all of you!
