My vision for Project 2.

I REALLY think that since there are a lot of folks with material for Project 2, that we should have an MP3 CD. There is plenty of room, and if people need an audio CD we can release an EP with a selected amount of songs on it, but the main CD should be filled with music.

Also, there should be a very, very loose restriction on the recording quality of songs. Some artists do not have professional or even semi pro equipment. So, if you don't want to be associated with us "amateurs", then you are probably making a pretty good run at the music industry anyhow. The project is supposed to be for all artists, especially emerging artists, who have few outlets for their music. But, if you are a very popular artist already, we would really appreciate your participation as well, because the more popular people to agree with our freedom of music ideals, the better the NFO has a shot to save music from becoming completely engulfed in Mr. Moneyman's system of corporate greed.

And, Project 2, as I originally intended, will be free and available for download online. We will have to check with MR. NFO man to see if we will have enough webspace to host that many songs, but if not, we can rotate songs on there every couple weeks so that everyone gets a chance to download everyone elses songs.

Now, on a personal note, I would really appreciate it if Project 2 was as positive as possible. Rebellion is not the answer, love is the way, and if we can still have voices of opinion while expressing positive energy, we can achieve more of the goal of musical freedom. I'm not saying that I want you to be "fluff and puff", but I would like the project to be funky and fun. Listen to the song "Chase Me" by ConFunkShun, and that's the direction I would like to see. Of course, rock music peoples are gonna sound different, but that's cool too!

Peace,
JD

Not sure about that, its hard enough to get people to buy an audio CD let alone a disk that only works in your computer. Lets just do multipul disk sets again. The more products we have, the more chance there is of us selling one. Not only that but the concept of mp3 cds is quite new and not every one understands that they can not be played in a standard cd players, only computers.

We must be nearing the end of the hosting we've paid for by now. I use these folks, they give you one gig of storage. Ive got about 36 mp3s on my site & plenty of room to spare.

This is an internet project. The cd of mp3s works because people who want to save time and not download every track can just buy the cd. They aren't hearing our stuff on the radio, they can't buy our cd in a store like a normal cd. Most people who hear about us are gonna be people who look for music online, know about mp3s, have a way to listen to them on the computer and they might even have a burner.

Multiple cds kinda infringe on the freedom of the listener. What if the songs they want to buy songs are on 3 different cds and those songs can fit on one cd? It's more trouble than it's worth for us, I think.

cloud, could you re-post that info that you provided about making an mp3 a streaming one. mpU is it?

I have a 53MB radio show for the new site that I think that would be handy for!

I'm re-desinging the NFO TV section and the new WNFO radio part. a few clean ups in the contact page as well as a spiffy invite for project two that I hope everyone will help post on other sites other than just this one.

Yamomma has a nice NFO graphic for a prince.org feature ad that could use some "catchy content"(baby-less) that outlines the NFO as a community. Beau wrote something nice a while back that I'll use unless someone wants to step up to that.

And let's see...
Oh yeah, a welcome letter that could use some revision.

After that, we're all done. But I'm sure we'll have plenty of "I would have done it this way" re-revisions that I'm sure I'll probably hand the keys over to you and Beau if it get's "un-fun" again. I don't mind paying for the extra hosting space, and things are slowing down again for the holidays (REAL WORK, that is) so I can pay closer attention to this beast again.

I'd also like to open the forum again to product ideas. Haven't sold a thing yet. I'm not looking to make money off of this but if we make it self-sustaining then I have no problem putting in the extra effort as well as having all future development internally within the NFO.

The CDs

I wanted to wait for the bread to send these out to you UPS. the last time I sent something regular mail it took almost 3 months to go 900 miles. and the time before that, it was just lost. these things were not cheap to make so I don't want them lost.

sue me.

Put the full URL to the mp3 (including http://) into a text file, and name it "file.m3u". That works for me. Also - you could break it into sections and paste each section on a separate line in the text file:

http://...part1.mp3
http://...part2.mp3

And that would work too.

I don't want the project to be un-fun either. If there is too many limitations and restrictions placed on the project, and you (NFO) decide not to continue running the site, I would like to pay for the website and operate it, if and when you would have time to show me how to operate it.

Peace,
JD

I didn't mean for that to sound like I was giving up on it, but that once everything is organized, to share in future developments.

I would not have took it on if I didn't feel strongly about it. I'm just saying I'm not going to stress the small stuff is all. In the past, when it get's a little ugly, I step away from it, because I WANT to enjoy working on it. So far that approach has kept it fun for me.

Great to hear things are back up & running guys. New site, new project... gettin all excited again. Ive started recording my contribution to the new NFO CD. smile

NFO, to create a streaming mp3:

1. open a text file

2. type the link including http://www.newfunkorder.com into the top line.

3. save it as 'nfo.m3u

Its exactly the same for realaudio

Perhaps on the mp3 cd front, it would be nice to provide both options. Everything on one disk in mp3 format or separate audio CDs. That way we still have an accessable product to hand out to music industry types (audio CD) but also an internet only product smile

Good to see things are moving on the NFO again. I can be of service, webdesign/music let me know wink
