There's so many versions of songs I haven't heard, there's so many artists that I didn't know about
It's almost as educational as that PBS Blues special.

Just listening to some of these shows and of course the hip hop that’s thrown into the mix makes me realize more and more, at least in my opinion, that it’s hip hop that’s managed to link generations and keep the funk alive. Some of these kids are so young, early early 20’s, yet they’re extremely in the know about the Funk. They’re responsible for bringing back peeps like James Brown, Bootsy, my man Sly and of course George Clinton - who was influence by Sly. It’s James Brown’s break beats that can be found in the early early hip hop jams of the 70’s. And it was Dr. Dre who brought back the mothership in his video ‘Let Me Ride’. And Digital Underground who in ‘87 sampled the hell out of P-Funk’s ‘Aquaboogie’. In fact when Clinton heard it, he couldn’t stop himself from getting involved in their next project, appropriately titled ‘Sons of the P’. So as raw as hip hop can sound, it was / is very instrumental in keepin' and spreadin' and experimentin' wit da funk. LONG LIVE THE GROOVE.

http://www.wefunkradio.com/listen.plx I have another one for the list ya'll. It's great you've found these two because for the last several years I've only been tuning into just one weekly streaming funk show... http://www.bbc.co.uk/radi...l?funkshow Craig Charles used to play a character in the original Red Dwarf series on TV. This funk show he does every week goes on for a good couple of hours...he tends to mix classics with rare 'aint heard that before' groove, but his shows also have regular little sections like interviews with funk stars, a 'sample city' segue where he finds out who sampled what, and a 'facts of funk' thing... --- Saturday 15 November / Friday 21 November ARTIST - TRACK Sly & the Family Stone – I Want to Take You Higher Marva Whitney – What Do I Have to Do (to Prove My Love to You) Pee Wee Ellis – That Thang Outkast – Hey Ya! SAMPLE CITY Black Street – No Diggity Bill Withers – Grandma’s Hands Fred Wesley – Get Down Wid Cho Baad Self North Missippippi Allstars – Drinking Muddy Water The Gap Band – Oops Up Side Your Head Dr Rubberfunk – Bossa For The Devil Bees – A Minha Menina (BBC session) Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings – Got a Thing On My Mind SOULED ON FUNK Freakpower – Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out JTQ feat. Roy Ayers – Get Down to the Floor (Can You Feel It?) Snoop Dogg – Undercova Funk (Give Up the Funk) Clemon Smith – Brother Man, Sister Ann Floetry – Floetic SPECIAL GUEST – Courtney Pine Courtney Pine – Sister Soul Courtney Pine feat. Carleen Anderson – When The World Turns Blue Commodores – Brick House Backini – Pyramid O’Donel Levy – Freedom & Good Times Missy Elliott – Pass That Dutch HAMMOND TIME with Greg Boramon Jackie Mittoo – Got My Boogaloo Hank Ballard & The Midnight Lighters – From the Love Side Ty – Ha Ha Tower of Power – Back on the Streets Again Bill Doggett – Honky Tonk Popcorn Border Crossing – More to Life (Ominous) FACTS OF FUNK feat.
