Where can someone get the "linn/80's sounding drums? Anyone know if there is a drum machine out there or disk you can pop into a keyboard that resembles the linn drum machine sounds/prince 80's sounds. I have a linn 9000 in mint condition with the discs with all of the sounds but I don't have the patience to run it!!! HELP!!!

Maybe a cheap but good way it to buy some computer software. I bought Rebirth 2.0 awhile back and I still use it now. You can expand it too with "mods" (add on sounds)

The samples used in Rebirth are taken directly from the Linn so they are 100% accurate. :+)

You can find them online pretty easily. If you're just looking for the samples to put into a computer app, then it's no problem to get them online. Do a search on google for "Linn Drum" +samples +download The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Well, you're going to have to do some sort of computering to get the sounds from one machine into a drum machine, unless you go buy a Linn Drum. I don't know of any drum machines that have the Linn Drum sound. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Does anyone know if the linn drum/lm-1 is alot easier to run than the linn 9000? I have a 9000 (actually, just sold it on ebay tonite) and it baffles me to no end..

Do a search on google for "Linn Drum" +samples +download I tried that and all I got were regular drum sounds. What are the "Prince" sounds (setting) called? You know, the early songs like "Let's Go Crazy", "1999", Pop Life", etc.. The sounds in these zip packs are the same as my Zoom drum machine. I've reversed the polarity of the neutron flow... Now to find a way to exterminate Melody Cool and Rosie Gaines...

Prince detuned the drums. That's how they have the different tone than the original samples you might find online. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

I've been trying to do this for years and this is what I've found out from my experience.
Like Otan said, it is very easy to find the Linn Drum sound samples (in .wav) format online. From there you can load them into a software drum machine and use them. In terms of hardware, I've yet to find a drum machine that has similar sounds. The best way is if you have a smapling drum machine (like Akai MPC 2000) you can get the sounds from online or on disks and sample them into your machine. Persoanlly, I didn't want to spend like $2,000 on that. A couple key points to keep in mind:
