gtr - stage tuner - tube screamer - wah - amp.

Recording is altogether different cuz the doodad has so many effects that sometimes I get nutty.

But for the most part, there's always compression in there and there's always reverb. Everything else depends on what I'm recording/playing/thinking.

The Cloud9 Mission home studio consists of a AMD Duron 800MHtz PC with Cubase VST, Logic Audio & Cooledit software, a Boss GX-700 Digital Guitar effects rack, a Yamaha MA10 Preamp, an Alesis D4 electronic Drumkit with roland pads, a Yamaha QY70 sequencing unit, a Korg 5XD sound module, a 6 piece Yamaha Stage Custom Drum Kit, a Squire Stratocaster, a Les Paul Special, a Music Man 5 string Bass, a Korg X5D Keyboard & a Jupiter Tenor Saxophone.

I currently use (Boss) Noise Suppressor, Dunlop Crybaby wah, Boss Compressor, Boss Turbo Distortion, Boss DS-2 Digital Delay. I also sometimes use a Boss Super Phaser, Boss Octave and a reissue Fuzz Face. For recording on the pc, I use my regular effects board plus a Behringer V-amp v1 for amp & speaker simulation and a little reverb. I record in Cubasis and add no effects to the guitar afterwards.

I'd really like to own the entire range of Boss pedals, to be honest. I even have dreams about being in a hotel lobby with the floor covered in hundreds of boss pedals, all connected. Now that's one dream that wasn't covered in Freud's Dream Interpretation!

I own a lot of pedals and effect modules. But when comes down to it, wah, tubescreamer and delay are the ones that really get the gig. I find myself with a bag full of pedals and most don't even get used.

I guess this about guitar FX? Well, I am looking at getting a Boss GT-6. For now I have too many individual Boss pedals. I have an old school Boss Distortion pedal, Turbo overdrive, Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Limited Edition Deluxe Wah, Banshee Talk Box(Which I still have to figure out hwo to make some certain sounds on and a Zoom 505. Other than that I use various plug in software for recording. I am looking at buying a new dynamics processor, either a Lexicon or DBX model. Errr... I guess that's about it for now. Other than that I make different types of sound FX techniques while recording the actual sounds. TAKE CARE! :+)

I try to keep the effects to a minimum going IN, so if I want to change something or add something, I can. It's impossible to REMOVE flange or phaser or delay or reverb, but pretty easy to add it.

Compression on the other hand is pretty useful going in, for vocals at least. If you're doing keys, and they're electric, I'd say run then direct without effects, unless you're doing something nasty like using a wah-wah or a talkbox... but that's a part of the instrument, in my opinion. The wah wah is no different a tool than my guitar pick, whereas a chorus or a flange is more of a wash over my overall tone.

Hope that makes sense. Dry in, baked and crispy out.
