ahhh what a beautiful machine!

Tascam were my only choice for multitrack recording, I had an ORIGINAL Porta Two (not the crappy remake they came out with!), I've had access to a Tascam 244 AND 488, I did schneid to Fostex with their x-16 models (booo!) and finally ended up with the ultimate tape-based 8-track - the Tascam 238 Dolby S version!

I should be able to help, ask and I'll do my best. Might as well do something useful once again in this forum.

I got a Tascam 688. I know. Not helpful to you at all, but hey - maybe they use the same insane computer-programmer-knowledgebase for routing signals. Is the 488 the 8-tracks in, records 4 tracks? I think it's the same kind as mine, exept mine is 8 tracks. Wanna buy it Tal? $250. Cheep.
