I don't know of any free samples on the net, but when Prince used Clare Fischer's music I think it was more of a collaboration. Didn't P send music to Clare and Clare would record something and send it back?

I know there are orchestral samples available, like with cubase and VSTs, but I don't know much about those.

Go old school like the hip hop guys used to and sample some stuff from some classical albums. You can edit down the samples with a computer program if you have one. I've done similar stuff and it's all free (plus since most classical music is now public domain, you won't have to worry about Bach coming back and suing you!)
