WHEW!!

My fellow musicians:

You know that feeling you get when you come out of a concert AWESTRUCK and SPEECHLESS? When you feel like, DAMN, I need to go home and PRACTICE??? Or else throw my instrument out the WINDOW???

Lord-a-mercy. Stanley Clarke can play him some bass. *Particularly* the upright. Neva seen anything like it.

Both performers had bass players from Cameroon. Man, oh Man.

And Jean-Luc. . .well, let's just say that me and my violin had to have a lil' TALK. This is my third Ponty concert and definitely the best by far.

Oh my god, that would be an amazing unbelievable show!

I didn't know they toured together. Actually, I didn't even know Jean-Luc really toured.

Betcha they'll never come up north here to Canada.

One of the encores was Jean-Luc and Stanley (without their bands) doing "Autumn Leaves". Unrehearsed and impromptu. Clarke on the upright bass and Jean-Luc on his Barcus Barry (the one he uses for more "acoustic" sounding stuff). Never heard Autumn Leaves so funky and so beautiful.

Hey savoire. . .we've "org noted" before! Yeah, I'm trying to make a serious switch from classical to more jazz and funk violin and flute.

Oh, yeah, both have websites with their tour schedules. I can't remember if they're headin' up to Canada or not.

Yes, I know what you're saying about going home to practice after an amazing experience. Sometimes just going home and playing what comes out is good too.

I really like to anaylize the vibe when it comes to musicians and from the audience. The tech stuff (what key/arpeggio/time) doesn't interest me when I watch masters at work.
