Hey folks:

I'm putting together a motivational audiotape on relationships and I need some snippets of background music. I was going to record myself playing something (me on flute or violin with my mom backing on piano)but I was thinking it might be easier to snatch some music files from somewhere on the internet. Is there such a thing?

Permission to have the song on the newfunkorder cd does not grant permission to use the song anywhere anytime. Espcecially on a motivational CD that will sell for more than the usual $18.

Just my thoughts.

So yes. Definitely get individual permission before using any of the music on that CD.

I think what NuPwr319 is looking for something along the lines of New Age music. Motivational Relationship tapes? I don't know if there is anything on the internet that you can find, royalty free. I think NuPwr would be better off doing the music herself. I've thought about the same thing. I do have some instrumental new age sounding things, and I've toyed with the idea of creating meditation and/or affirmation tapes.

do a search for midi files and try some of those.

I meant some of those non-descript type of midi files that are out there specifically for the purpose of background type music. I think there's a name for the type of music I'm talking about ("stock music files" or something like that?).

I thought there was something like this where you either pay a fee, or there are free ones out there. I might be wrong. I'll keep looking or maybe ask around to some of the local video studios.

Oh, and I'm the GREAT PROCRASTINATOR, so I've kind of waited till the last minute to put this project together (it's due in less than a month), so that's why I was trying to get some "stock" music, instead of having to get some studio time to record myself. Well, we'll see. Thanks for everyone's suggestions, though.

Yeah, I've got lots of snippets here and there, saved on my old mac, mostly. Very New Age/instrumental stuff. But no time to look through it all now and make that kind of decision. I'm moving in 2 weeks. I'm gonna have my own room! YEAH!
