Songs that you'd like to see me perform live...(updated!)

Ok, guys...question: Suppose I was to perform a solo acoustic show in your area - what tunes would you like to hear me perform? What tunes do you think I could pull off? Which ones do you think fit my voice/style/range well? I'm trying to put together a new song list and go out and round up some new SOLO gigs. Thanks for the help!

Oh yeah - you know I'll be doing some kind of Prince medley, too!

you and a couple
of other org
musicians play live.

i've recently heard
DreZone's and Otan's
music.
quite delicious too.

anyway.
i would like to hear your
music. as i told DreZone
i have a couple dj friends that
spin and dj at local stations.
would love them to hear your
sound. they spin all types
of tunes.
Alanis to DeLaSoul
Funkadelic to Bjork.
it's quite varied.

Venus, I don't know why the soundclick site possibly wouldn't work for you. I have a page at MP3.com. The address is:

www.mp3.com/artist08

And 7salles - I hope that you're kidding...hehehehe. I have done the acoustic version of Livin' on a Prayer, though.

Based on your voice I'd love you to pull off some acoustic versions of Bill Withers numbers. Take you're pick! Use Me, Who Is He (And What Is He To You), Aint No Sunshine, Grandmas Hands... Yeah Ok I dig those songs played acoustic anyway, but I reckon a grungy edge to them could work in a strange way! (I'm basing that assumption on your NFO track which I really like...I'll check out your others when I get a chance)

7salles has a better idea of what might fit your style I reckon though. [Edit: Erm, maybe not! wink]

Oh YEAH cosign Red, do 3rd Eye at least!

Ball and Chain by Social Distortion. Definitely. It's a singalong and the ladies can't turn down a guy whining about his wife.

If anyone has any songs that they think that I should add to the Prince medly feel free. Any other suggestions?

Yeah, I like Circle of Amour - anyone know how to play it? I like Power Fantastic, too, but couldn't begin to think of how it would sound on acoustic...hmmm.

You could try a version of Kiss like the Prince demo version...I think it would be a funky enough twist for the non-P aware general public to dig.

If you haven't heard it, it's just his voice screaming the song blues style, rather than falsetto, for the first verse up till the first "..and your * * *, kiss" (if I remembered correctly). It really works as a slow blues rythm, and just three or four chords involved!

Others that I personally like playing acoustic:

Play in the Sunshine (fun and easy)
7
3rd eye
When you were mine (ofcourse!)
When we're dancing close and slow (ok, my own variation of the arpeggio!)

I've also heard a guy play his own version of snows in april but I've never bothered to figure it out personally sad

Ok, dig this - I just heard a couple of cool cover songs. I heard Ben Kweller do an acoustic version of Ice, Ice, Baby (Otan's boy!) and The Vines rockin' cover of Outkast's Ms. Jackson...hmmm. I also heard a country version of Raspberry Beret - anyone ever hear it? Of course, I've already done some silly covers live - Billie Jean, Gin and Juice, Let's Get it On, Wishing Well (TTD!), etc.

Maggot, I've played SISIA before live, and Kiss (both ways) and 7, too. I've also played Do Me Baby, Strange Relationship, Alphabet St. and the Cross.

what more is there to suggest man?! lol

Have you heard the acoustic version of Hit Me Baby One More Time, by Travis (a rather dull, yet annoyingly popular scottish indie rock group)? one of the best covers that I know of!

You're gonna laugh...we did like four Travis songs and one of them was that one! People dug it. We also did covers similar to their covers of Nobody Does it Better and Be my baby. Radiohead's version of 'nobody' is really kick-ass, though!

hey cool!

At the moment i'm working on an acoustic version of...get this...'The Rain' by 'Orange Juice Jones' - I friggin' loved that song way back to before I first picked up the guitar but rediscovered it recently, and ya know, started jamming to it. I think the acoustic works well anyway...it's one of those fantastic songs that everyones forgotten they loved. or shall i get into my box now?

I love that song! You'll have to let me know what kind of arrangement you come up with so I can steal it!
