I'm aware that I'm about to flood the market, havin' been only one day since that attrocity I posted last...so I thought I'd get my teeth stuck into 'finishing' off the next one...because it's a little funkier so's you's might like it more.

Unfortunately within the last 24 hours I haven't managed to aquire the new sound module, amplifier, new microphone, and not least the necessary skill to produce shit properly, so you're stuck with the good old geetar and mic stuck in the back of the lap top... When I get more equipment, my crap will be more polishede I promise!!!

This track is sooo different from the last so no need for the buckets probably.

It's based on a funky blues-based rythm guitar cycle I came up with, and an alternative vocal melody. The lyrics were a flash-in-the-pan moment for me not so long ago but there's not much of them, so I'll have to remove the repetitive nature of this particular story before 'the muse' goes

So, it's a bit unusual (adventurous? shit?)...if there's anything I've done good with this piece I'd (my ego?) love to hear it (hey I'm new to this game a'ight?), but more importantly, if there's anything bad about it, LET ME KNOW!!! (please!? ) For instance, the 'bass' is me on the fat guitar strings - I have no bass and I can't play one anyway, so there are a few duff notes in a part where I got bored and lost the path of the Master Plan.

It's called 'So High', or 'Take me so high', or 'Why'd you take me so high?' or ...

By the way, I've just descovered it's best to hear this on headphones with highish volume, otherwise some of the rythm detail is lost. Damn equipment. Oh well, give me a few months!

Even though it's only got a few things going on, I would suggest that you clean it up some - meaning, play less on the guitar. It sounds like you did the acoustic first, and then went back and added the bass afterwards, and both are playing a million miles a minute. Try going back and play a lot less on the guitar - just strum half as much - it will let the other parts come through better. (for example, just hit the chord on the second beat (the snare... building anticpation), and then play the lilting part where you slide up and back down, and that's all - so instead of hearing ba-da-da-da-daaa-da-DA-da, you'll hear:
--Ba. Da-DAda.

Secondly, own up to that voice! Don't hide behind the echoes... I can't understand what you're saying, but I'm assuming it's tea and scones and porrige and jolly good then. OH. just kidding man. I kill me.

I sounds like a great first draft. NOW get back in and make it into a great tune.

It's like descovering a whole new me...feels very strange but lots of fun! Hey thanks Otan for your feed back - MUCH APPRECIATED! Yeah you're spot-on, I had the acoustic done and then layered the other stuff in sequence. It was the first draft and I kinda knew the layers weren't sounding 'off of each other' - i guess that's the difficulty with doing all the parts on my own! I kinda have an idea what you mean with the rythm, and I'll sort it out, well, try.

MY VOICE IS SHIT. Hence the spoken word bits and the use of effects! But funk it, I'll see what it sounds like without the bells and whistles - just hopefully not too pansy...I have extra lyrics now so I'll try rehashing the thing from scratch (I might try salvaging my solo...I'm quite proud of that )

This is the big enigma that faces all english artists, from The Beatles, all the way up to my superior talent...when I sing, am I trying to sound american, or does it come out like that naturally? One of the reasons I chose the 'spoken word' parts was as a kind of personal antidote to what still seems false to me in the singy-lah-lah part. I want to try and find something original in my voice (in respect of the style I want to head towards) and see if its possible for the english accent to be funky...this is my main musical goal at the moment at least vocally (that and learn how to sing per se ). The only example I can think of is Ian Dury and the Blockheads (shit I wished I copied some of their stuff onto my computer when I came over to france!). One of my future ideas is to do a funky cover of At The Chime Of The City Clock by Nick Drake just to put my theory to the ultimate test!
