Opinions of these songs? Reviews, critiques?

I'd like to hear what you guys think of these songs that I have on MP3.com before I churn out these new jams that I've been working on and go over to soundclick.com. I'd like to hear feedback and suggestions of things that I need to work on for future numbers. I try not to stay in one genre or another, but explore various genres half-assisdly...hehehee. I have about 5 unfinished tracks that I hope to debut within the next month and there may be a few that I haven't uploaded on MP3.com yet. Believe me, your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

"I Know" - Sweet mellow groove. Reminds me of the NFO track, but a little bit of U2 in there. Sort-of.

"Imposters" - I like those strings in there. Nice touch! Deep lyrics. You have your own voice and great writing skills to match.

"This Blood Spilt" - Is that you doing the back up vocals too? I like that. Organ? I love that sound and it fits good on this song.

The only think I would suggest is that after listening to all three tracks back to back, that you change the effects on your vocals or loose them all together. It seems that using all that reverb or whatever effects on your vocs adds some redundancy to the songs.

You have a great voice. Effects are great when used sparsely. I have a feeling that you don't need them anyway.

i agree with Kelly, the first song is good WITH the effects on your voice.but after that it does get redundant.your writing is very good. almost like Garth Brooks as Cris Gaines.that's one hell of a compliment.

Flashpointe

I listened to "I Know" and "Imposters", and mp3.com was having trouble getting me "This Blood Split". "I know" was very good, I can really, really hear a Beatles/Lennon/McCartney influence in this. Voice effects or no voice effects, I think it's cool. I really like "Imposters". Very deep message, and, I really like the musical arrangement, especially the strings and guitar. I hear a Pink Floyd type of influence on this, and that is a big compliment (I really like Pink Floyd).

I will listen to "This Blood Split" when I can.

Good work!

Peace,
JD

Well, I've been feeling guilty about neglecting to listen to your "new" tracks and I've already listened!

Here is what I said before...

Cool! You remind me of Neil Finn. Great vocal sound and song arrangements. I really like "I Know". The effects at the end are groovy.

I see what you're saying, BUT, since I compared him to Neil Finn, that's kinda what he does too. I think in a way it gives him a signature sound.

Looking forward to your new tunes, Artist08!

Littlewing

I liked "I know" the best. The huanting harmonies in the chorus make the song work.

Imposters reminds me alot of john lennon. Really retro sound. The vox effects and all.

Thanks, all. Funny that you say that Littlewing because I did imagine it as a Lennonesque song. I appreciate the compliments, guys. And, about the reverb and vocal effects, what can I say? I like to use reverb...hehehehee. I don't like the sound of dry vox.
