Looking for bass samples...

Hello brothers and sisters,

I've set upon me an impossible task... I'm actually going to attempt to program some pluck and slap loops. I'm a fool.
I haven't got a bass so, and anyway I couldn't play one probably. But funk is funk is bass. I want to lay something other than a loping house groove.

I'm limited for samples - does anyone here know some good sites to download some?

I guess I could try Kazaa at work tomorrow. There, I answered my question maybe.

If such programing is inevitably gonna sound poop do let me know. Maybe I'll improvise with those fat guitar strings...

Dogs Bollocks! Even with T3 though, 5 discs worth may stretch the limits of my patience (provided it's even 'out there'. Hey, you don't work for these guys do you!?), and at 350 odd moolar it'll have to settle for 4th position on 'Marc's List Of Things To Get After His Payrise Next Month'. Does look good though. Canine genitalia, that's what it's about.

maggotbrain - tell me what you want - I'm sure me or dre or cloud could pull some stuff out of our ass in an hour. How soon do you need it?

You want thumping or bootsy? Slow open, or busy?

EDIT: OH, WAIT. I'm AT WORK RIGHT NOW.

lol

You mean you don't smuggle it in??

Tsss. Work.

Hey thanks for the offer dude! There's no real urgency
The track I want to lay is based on an acoustic strummy type of jam (with lyrics as well!), and the slap bass is meant to funk-up a little bit of bridge I got in there, but if it was a loop I could probably use it to underly throughout the song. For an idea of the sorta bass, there's a track by a P-Funk band called Mutiny - they gotta track thats stuck in my head called Lump. Starts off with just a truly funky slap bass and beats for a number of bars before the other business sets in (synths and starchildesque vocals)...the bass turns around every fourth. Kinda goes, "bum-b-b-b-bum-b-b-b-bum-b-b-b-bum-b-b-b-bum". My bridge is a simple four chord progression so the bass would have to stick with it some degree.

Hey if you're serious then the best thing to do would be for me to lay down a (rough acoustic) portion set to 120bpm and in the key I want and upload it somewhere? It might take me a week or so though...I work best with targets, as proven by the fact I only got 7 hours now to figure out what the hell I got to say tomorrow, and maybe get some kip!
