creative bunch o mothers up in this jernt.

I spent all day reworking my song. Scrapped everything except the lyrics and the groovydog rhythm-ace beats.

Whatchagonnado - the new version. It's just light years from where I wanted the song to go - but I really like where it's ended up... more Stones, less Sly.

And HEY HEY HEY honkies. That's ME on those drums.

That's right! Led Zeppelin is on the phone, but I can't go on tour with them just right now.

Very cool man! I like the keyboard part. Is that like a harmonica sound? I don't think it's off-key. Great vocals as always. I love the tone/sound of your voice. Great vocal melody.

Great song, man. music

YES! A real ending and not a half-assed fade out. Wait a minute what was that guitar chord at the end. Leading into another song maybe? Aaww man!

That's a real harmonica on there - with some painfully flubbed lines - I gotta go back in and redo that shizzle. I'm not sure if that's the bad note you mentioned Ted - there's some point where I bend the note up and hold it, and hey, who knows, it coulda been flat.

The song has a coolio groove but the backing vocals are painful and there's a coupla flubs on the guitar too - (IF I was trying to go for perfection).

The one drawback to this version is that I've lost pretty much anything that was cool about the first version - the sparsity, the cool rhythm machine intro...

so yeah, it's the next morning and the beautiful glow of my new song has worn off. NOW comes the time when you refine the song. Yay.

edit:
oh - the ending.

Like I said, I killed all the other parts - including the guitars - but as I was letting the ending roll on the final mix, apparently I didnt' ENTIRELY erase the guitar.

sigh.

Man, everything was changed, but ya, u hit it with this one. U added vocal parts to emphesis areas, thats cool. Dynamics are great.

Sorry my version wasn't what u were looking for, but i knew it wasn't when i started. But i just did what came natural for me. Hey keep mine and release it in the Beau Hall Box set.

I'm lovin' this track. Still needs work, but your vocal style makes it a very cool, laid-back, comfortable groove. Sounds slyish or even jamiroquaish to me, can't find the Stones, unless you're thinking that the harmonica puts it there. I like the harmonica for most of it, but something happens bout 1/2 or maybe 3/4's of the way thru. Have to listen again to be specific, but I think it's a) off beat and b) maybe flat. But like U said - time to edit. Overall, this is going to be a great track 4 U Beau. I found myself singing If U Want Me 2 Stay...directly after.

Talk about a Creative Mutha -

We're listening to him. Unfuckinbelievable!

So you're playing everything? Wow.

Wouldn't it be cool to take the first version of the song and make it sound like it was being played thru a telephone as like the beginning (with that casio beat). Justa thought.

Then again, maybe I'm just entirely out of my league (musically) and should shut my pie hole lol

This is amazing stuff,Beau, thanks for sharing.

BRILLIANT suggestion. I like it. YES that's what I'll do. I've broken all the tracks into wav files and I'm going to take them into ACID to re-build the whole song, WITHOUT the heinous harmonica - that just hurts to listen to, for the most part, except for a couple of really cool mistakes.

SO, I'll take those mistakes and turn them into a groovy harp loop. And yeah, I REALLY like the mumbling/yeahahs at the beginning of the original one. SO lofi THAT track into the newer version.

Thanks for the suggestion Slave. EXCELLENT suggestion. 2 points.
