when i jammed with Prince!!

I been doing some reading on here from everyone, and i guess no has had the experence of being on stage with Prince, lots of people have, I met him in person in 1991 in chicago, thats where im from i went to the concert and the after set we met at the after set party, reguardless of how i look he didn,t feel uncomfortable, i we talked for about 10 mins then i met him again in 2001 at the Riv in chitown, this time he brought me up on stage and told the audience i was his nephew for those who heard about that ...that was me...he let me sing *KISS* and the crowd went nuts, yes my friends it was an awsome experence and it happened 15 more times since...Ive gotton to know the whole clan...family members too, that experence lead to the opening of me opening for lenny kravitz 2002 with band Julians Ride, i played at the celebration in his studio on his piano, its weord sometimes when i look around the room and trip to see myself in his space! Ive played with some of the band members in jam sessions when the fonky baldheads was together...now with my own thing swinging in thr wind Im on the road playing everywhere i can promoting my Ride, so far very good reviews hope i might get the chance to meet some of you guys in here!
Every one has some experences in their life and some like these are worth sharing with everyone! keep the funk alive for we are the new breed for this new generation!

Hey Julian, I was at one of the concerts in which Prince introduced you as his nephew. Well no kidding...you look so much like him. Hey, can you post a picture of yourself looking like the man?

I just joined the lame-o site and there's no song files. So, the man can dress like prince and make his web page purple.

I wanna hear some of the music. Don't be a chicken dude - if you gonna brag, you best be willing to whip it out.

Oh oh - I rememeber this site - it's the one with the music that plays right away and drove me up a wall. I never actually listened to the music. I'm a gonna check it out now.

I Wonder - it's a pretty cool rock version of his song in the same name. Well - the hooks is the same.

I like your stuff. If anything, I would say, DROP the "I'm Prince" shtick - your stuff stands on it's own, you don't need to piggyback on your hero. You've learned a lot of great stuff from the experience, but honestly, just look at the posts on here - your homage is holding you back.

Say, for instance, you said, "check out my songs, I really dig Prince and met him" - or maybe, you might want to leave that out at first - THEN, I bet all those that talked crap about your stuff would have given you A LOT more credit for what you've done.

Did you play all the instruments? I'm guessing you did... no real reason other than you got a photo of you holding the guitar.

Again - I'm telling you - drop the Prince Wannabe act, and Stand out on your own. You'll get MAJOR PROPS and yes, people will compare you to prince, but in a good light, because THEY thought of it, NOT because you TOLD them to.

Just my opinion man.

Why do you call your band "The Revolution"? If Wendy and Lisa aren't in the band, it's NOT the Revolution, and now you're comin up to Minneapolis, playin at the Quest (formerly P's club "Glam Slam") AND callin yourself the REVOLUTION??? Sheeeiiit. I just might have to check it out!

i totally agree with you Beau, ive spoken to this cat and have told him numerous times to drop the "prince" act and be more himself instead of something hes not. it totally defeats the purpose of musicianship in the 1st place.Julian, stand out on your own, wear ya own clothes develop your own style,be YOU not someone else.

Ahh, the question of artistry over impersonation becomes more apparent now.

Julian, you have talent apparently but it just don't feel right doing the whole Prince routine. People will treat you as the impersonator that you are - your ownly saving grace is that it seems you've penned some good tracks of your own.

Right. And THAT is when you (Julian) know that you CAN do this on your own. If all you could do was dance and sing, then, maybe playing Prince would be your calling.

But because you play instruments and write your own stuff, I would say, try it out sometime. Be your own freak, not somebody else's.
