Nobody would care but y'all. and then some. So last week I was recruited to play on somebody else's CD - and they're gonna do one of my songs on the CD.
And then, on Thursday, I got called to play guitar for a local diva this weekend. Diva ain't the word really - she's a singer like Aretha, Stevie, Gladys Knight, Nikka - and she plays keys like Stevie, Sly - this girl is amazing. So, that gig was yesterday (Saturday) and she asked me to do a couple of gigs with her today too. At the first gig today, she gives me the full schedule over the next month and says I'm in the band if I wanna be! This girl is FUNKY. The band is TIGHT. This is awesome y'all. I get to sing a coupla my tunes and then just be Jesse/Wendy the rest of the night. We did the double header, wrapped it up at midnight, and y'all, I AM WHUPPED. And RICH. 4 gigs this coming week. Well - she does almost exclusively covers - stuff like "Don't Change Horses" by Tower of Power, "Baby I love you" by Aretha, up to Superstition, Higher Ground, Thankyoufalettinme... etc. I plan to get her a disc of my stuff this week, hopefully she'll start doing some of my songs... putting some originality on the shows. So I decided, if I'm playing funk, I need me a telecaster.
