A short definition of the term "participation" regarding the New Funk Order. I just wanted to say that I am very pleased with most of the NFO members for their contributions, time, effort, selflessness, and dedication to the project to make it even what it is today (which isn't alot, but it could be better).
However, there are some, who for whatever reasons, have not been contributing to the effort the way that we have been. Here is my definition of "participation", and I speak for many of the active NFO members when I say this. Participation is not just giving a song to the NFO and then never doing anything again. We need participants to spread the word about the project, and we would like artists to at least check in once a week and tell us how things are going. What you need to realize is that we are not a big business label or organization so the success of the project is up to the individuals who participate in it. Your music is not just being heard online in cyberworld- there are real people in real areas of nations hearing your music, so your help would be appreciated. Beginning with Project 2, the NFO will no longer accept non-participation. Having your music played for many peoples and nations should be inspiring to you, and a project like this will not be used for personal promotion IF you do not help the project succeed as a whole. I am just stating this so that folks know up front that this project will not be a promotional tool for artists who seek only promotion. This project will be a great personal promotion tool for those who truly participate in the project. Your friend, Jason

I tried, but didn't achieved anything, I sended press release to soem brazilian sites, but it's vey difficult in Brazil to funk be accepted, the ones who lives here nows why. The name "funk" here is like junk. All i could do I did, that it was to put on the topic of my IRC channel, i tried some alt.music. groups, and lenny kravitz forum, but received nothing to little feedback, but i showed to friends adn they tend to like Cary Aria and BeauHall very much.

Hey Salles, at least you are trying. That is all that matters. You have been participating, and it is much appreciated. Maybe some of the others have been spreading the word also, but they should let us know how it's going every once in a while, like at least once a month for Pete's sake!

I think major changes in the website is feasible for July.
But don't quote me on that just yet.

baby prevents my contribution beyond what I've done so far. I can support ideas and plans of attack, and then leave it to thems with more time and abilities to do the Work. That unfortunately, is the best I can do these days.
I haven't even had a chance to work on ANY new material or recording since my day of bad drumming. I agree with you that we should definitely get peoples motivated to get the word out - folks like Salles and Camille are extremely valuable assets - and we've got other new recruits that are very helpful on this venture. AT THIS POINT - maybe we should create a written out plan of attack. Gather the threads on here that contain specific information (the press release, discussion board urls, etc) and post that info on a single page on www.nfo.com so we can see what's going on and how to attack it. What IS the status of the site redesign? We ALL know that a stagnant site loses folks' interest. It would be GREAT to have the site have at least an entry page with the latest news on the music - press release, exposure, etc. And hell yes, USE groovement. That man is an untapped resource. YM - can you get him a master disc? The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Have you told people about the website? I understand you have connections in radio, but I don't think our music is ready for radio. Mine isn't, production-wise, anyway. Then again, who knows. What did you have in mind?

That's cool, Groovement. This message is not aimed at people who have not contributed songs or art to the project. You haven't actually joined the NFO, so this was not intended at you. But, you can contribute by telling people about the movement, what the goal is, etc. Just say yes!
Peace, JD | |

Otan, c'mon man. You know JD wasn't talking about you or any of us that have been active here. You know there are a few people that gave up a track, and practically NEVER came back. No ideas for slogans, no input for the website, NOTHING.
The people JD means are the ones who wont see this thread, let alone respond to it. I definitely think it should somehow be required that people check in once a week and participate. How that will happen, I don't know. The fact is that things go REALLY slow if even one person doesn't come by for over a week. The Master Cd project being a prime example.

#1 Ian should do a review/anouncement about the cd & it should be on the log in, news page.
"The First Ever Prince.org musician/artists compilation CD" NFO w/(user names) In other words we should start HERE.

I'm willing and able for NFO - Pt 2.
Participation is my middle name (actually it's michael but that's not important right now). Let me know when there's a game plan for NFO II

We know Emale, you were not one of the ones that the message was intended for. We are just trying to see what the reasons are for non-participation by certain members.

Don't get me wrong, I don't feel like the musicians forum should be the be-all end-all place that the NFO members must go, I am just asking for, at the least, minimal participation for the advancement of the project. I realize that people have lives outside of the internet- I do for sure!

Hey Emale, can you upload your .wav file to the NFO FTP site? If you can't do that, can I send it in .wav format to NFO man?
Thanks, JD | |

Also, Emale, if you talk with Jew ask him if I can do the same with his track if he can't do it, or maybe you can upload it also. I hope he is alright. Let him know that my thoughts and prayers are with him, and that I really dig his stuff. I look forward to having both of your music on NFO Project 2.

I do what I can through word of mouth. Keep in mind that not all of us have friends in radio, newspaper, TV, web design etc. I hope it's not how you intended it, but it seems to me that your plea is a little offensive. Out of curiosity was my song received in WAV format? I think I did everything correctly
