Jason’s idea was to actually meet and create some music. I had been wanting to collaborate with Magnus and Jason, as well as a few other people on Prince.org, so I saw this as a great opportunity to get that going. I already had a track, but I felt like it needed a little something more, to be part of the New Funk Order. So I asked Jason and Magnus to create some drum loops for the track. I chose Jason’s beats, but since he didn’t create them on digital equipment, syncing them up was a nightmare. Long story short, there have been tons of technical difficulties and I’m still working on the new version. Magnus’s drum tracks will be put to use as well.

What the New Funk Order means to me is revolution. Corporate radio and record companies are squeezing the life out of music as we know it in popular culture. The New Funk Order shows how people can come together with a common goal of sharing music, and a new vision of how it can be done. Many people have shown their support, from web designers to journalists, graphic designers and promoters. Watching this thing grow has truly been inspiring. Where it goes depends on how many people get involved, and what connections they have. Anything is possible.
